Decisions... TL-S, Modding a leased one?

Anybody take a leased vehicle and lower it on their own without additional charges or bullshit from the dealer?

I am considering the TL-S over the ultra crampped S2000. The S2K is a great car, but my knees were hitting the steering wheel and dash. I was also looking at the NSX, but the maintenence costs are damn high, between excessive tire wear within 5k miles and the high expense clutch ($3000) and with all the damaged NSXs Ive come across, I decided to wait on that. The TL-S seems like the best choiuce until 2009 when they come out with a redesigned TL.

Now the dilemna is to figure out if i should lease or buy. All i want to do to it is put on some rims, Our add on lip kit coming pout soon, and a subtle drop on Eibach springs or something. Will the dealer give me shit about these things if i comer in for service or at time of return?

IMO buy it. You have nothing to show for after the lease is over.

If all you want to do is rims and a lip kit, lease it. That is if you plan on getting another car in 2 years.

just get the lease, do the 3 year and wait for the 2010 model year so the first year bugs are out.

I have to get bthe first year TL, from a business standpoint. But besides that, I am definetly going to change cars after 2-3 years, without a doubt. I just want to know if you can lower a leased vehicle and get away with it without any additional penalty charges, etc.

You could always keep the stock springs/shocks and put them back on in 2 years. They won't give you shit until you return the vehicle to them. And sometimes I've seen people turn vehicles in lowered without any fees.

Ron it all depends on the dealer, and I know where you went to check out the NSX at Park Avenue don't mind. My friend has put the lip kit, eibach pro kit springs and staggered 20's on his and they never bitched and moaned, and his lease is up in a few months.

I dont know Ron. Modding a leased car isnt such a good idea IMO. I would keep everything you take off and be ready to reinstall it all at the end

Its really not a matter of what the dealer thinks of you modding it. Its when they inspect it at the end. I guess it all really depends on what you do to the car.

I leased a Jeep Wrangler and put wheels in fog lights on it. They took it as is.

I do expect to revert back to stock when the time comes to bring the car back. But i don't want to bring the car in for minor service or warranty issues with the parts and have them get me at the end, saying you modified the car even tho it was stock when the lease was up. I guess PAA would be the best bet since they are pretty mod friendly.

I doubt they will say anything when you bring it in for service. As others have stated, they care about the residual value when your lease is over. So as long as you're converting it back to stock, with no damage, then you'll be fine.
