Is this a decent price

I found a very rare 2006 Acura TL Nav in WDP and a manual 6 speed, it has every option, has a deck spoiler, tan leather that looks new, it is certified with a 7 year 100k drivetrain warranty. It has 27,500 miles on it. I drove it and it feels very tight and the manual feels like butter. I am considering tradding in my 2007 Black Honda Civic Si sedan on it, my Civic has only 14,000 miles, brand new Goodyear F1 all season tires on it. They wanted $26,995 for the TL but lowered it to $25,995 then offered me $13,500 for my Civic Si that sells on lots for $19k in the same shape or worse. I finally got them to go down to $24,000 for the TL and best on my car is $14,200. Thats a $9800 difference. I wanted to get a difference of $8500 MAX. They won't take anymore off the deal. The 2006 TL has the remaining 4 year 50,000 mile factory warranty and a 7 year/100k mile drivetrain warranty after that expires. I don't know if I should do it. I always wanted a white TL with a manual. In Aug 2006 I bought a new ASM TL nav with an auto. In Dec 06 I tradded it in on a 2007 ASM TL Type-S auto. In Aug 2007 I tradded in the 07 TL-S auto in for a new Black Civic Si sedan, I love the car but miss the TL with the heated leather and mirrors along with everything else the Si doesn't have. What would you do? I am on a fence??? I priced out the certified 2006 TL Nav 6-speed in clean condition and 27,500 miles and it came up to $26,500.

Thanks for any good input or opinions. Jeff D.

Not a bad deal, but you could sale your SI privately and get a lot more for it. That is what I would do.

Thanks. The problem is the white manual certified TL is so rare and its on the Acura lot now for sale. I could get $17500 for my Civic if I sell it myself. But the taxes on the trade save me $1100. So it would be more like I am getting $16400 for it, which is a solid $2000 more. But the hassle selling now in the winter is hard, plus will the TL sell b4 I can sell my car? The difference in my monthly payment would be about $33.

Besides the $14,200 for my car which is about $2300 too low, would the TL be a great car? 2006, I love WDP, manual, tan leather stays cool in the summer, doesnt show dust, the white is so easy to keep clean compared to my black Civic. Its also certified with a great warranty, longer then my 1 year newer Civic. I really want the TL.

On a fence???

I'd say go for it - seems like you really like the car, so don't miss the opportunity. Plus, I wish I could get a deal like that; it's hard to find a 6spd 06+ TL nowadays..

Thanks. I got an email at work yesterday and his final difference between the 2 cars was $9800. He started at $12,500 difference after I explained I know all about the car dealer system, wholesale-wholesale, and retail-retail. I was in SHOCK when he said $12,500. I thought a very fair difference would be $8500. I emailed him last night with my final offer of $9500 difference. I am just worried about buying a used 2006 TL when my Civic is an 07. BUT the TL has only 27k miles and a great certified warranty, so that should be ok. I want to put an A-Spec body kit on it, lower it about 1" with the A-Spec coilovers, tint the windows and debadge it.. AWESOME...

You know what you should do?

You should seriously set your offer to them. If they deny, just leave and come back on the 31st of this mo. Give them the same offer. If they hadnt sold it by then, im sure they'll give you your offer. I mean cmon, they're going to think, "hmm, its the end of 2008 and we need to make room for the 2009's, lets just do it" Just pray that they dont sell it by that time.

Its a risk, but it might pay off.

And just FYI, Its A-spec suspension...Not coilovers. Coilovers are adjustible and the aspec's arnt. (not trying to be a jerk) just a heads up

I agree. I would wait. If they sell the car before then, then it just wasn't meant to be. The WDP Manual is a rare find, but I think it's also a rare buy. Not many people are buying cars these days, let alone luxury sedans, let alone manual ones.

That sounds like a fair price for a very rare TL! I would make the switch and I don't think you'll look back once you do. Like UAwalker808 said, go back to the dealership the last weekend or almost the last day of the month and see what they say then. I've heard many ppl get some really year end deals!

Sounds like the car I almost bought 2 1/2 years ago. Drove to Pohanka in NOVA (about 3 1/2 hours) to buy their WDP, tan, nav 6 speed. Drove it. Last 2 cars were white. Wife like AM. Drove home in the AM/ebony. I liked the AM but I always felt inside I liked WDP better. Traded in the AM 3 weeks ago for an '07 WDP/taupe/auto Type S. Couldn't be happier. My car had 37k miles on it and Pohanka has it listed for $23.9. $24k for yours is good but not great. Buy if you really, really want it. Hold off like others have said until the week of Christmas maybe. Good luck and let us know.

Sounds like you have 2 things against you primarily. First the great deal on the TL that could pass ya' by. The second seems to be the difference between the two that you said was at 8500 max.
If you can deal with one of them then the other will fall into place. You may have to suck it up for a little bit and just get the car considering the current terms, maybe even put a small deposit on the TL just to hold it.

Hope you get it, sounds awesome.

Did you get a price for the TL before you told them you had a trade? Could be the TL price is great because they are undervaluing the trade.

I really appreciate all the advice. I called them and asked to have the car cleaned so I could get a close look. I went there at 3:30pm today and WOW, its mint. The body and interior look new. I also looked at the engine and trunk, both like new. I couldn't resist, so I said $9500 difference would be as high as I could go. They took it. I am picking it up monday. I could have waited, but I really want a white TL with Nav and a 6 speed manual, and the certified warranty is awesome. 5 year/62,000 mile bumper to bumper and a 7 year/100,000 mile drivetrain warranty. I had 2 TL's both ASM and loved the cars, but everytime I went to a meet and saw WDP TL's I drooled. I intend to put the A-Spec body kit on it soon, debadge, light tint and some type of lowering around 1". I just need to figure out what? My 07 TLS auto had just Eibach pro springs and I didn't like the ride, the height was great, but I prefer a balanced suspension. How much lower would the Acura A-Spec suspension do? What exactly is it if its not coil-overs?

Thanks again people! J.D.

Why did you trade in your TL-S for a SI? The SI's are nice, but all the featurs on TLs idk. Nice find on the WDP! I love my NBP, but I love WDP too! Two best colors in the TLs IMHO.

Kind of personal but here I go. In Aug 07 where I work we were going through an ESOP, which is an Employee Stock Option Purchase. The numbers needed seemed impossable, plus my credit cards were at $25k. I was VERY worried, so I made all my minimum bills as low as I could. I am now in better shape and the ESOP went through, I still have a great job and my debt is cut in half. I was considering a new TL but I don't like the design and I wanted SH-AWD with a manual. And we all know that won't happen at least for a year.

I always wanted a WDP TL. I also like the A-Spec body kit on the 06 much better then the kit I had on my 07 TLS. Plus my TLS was an auto, YUK IMO.

I think I will love this new/used TL I am getting on monday.

Have a great night all, J.D.
