Debating selling the TL

Ok guys so here is my situation. Iv'e had my 2006 TL for a little over 4 years. I love my car but it just doesn't grab my attention like it use to. I even just put a new set of wheels on. I think im growing out of the whole "slammed and flush wheels" phase to.

I really want to get back into sport bikes. I used to have a 2002 R6 and I loved it. If I did end up selling my car I would want to pick up one of these:
2009/10 zx6r:

The next thing is getting another car for daily driving. I was thinking of a truck or suv so I could haul my bike if I needed to. Do you guys know of types of trucks/suv's that I could get for under 10 grand? Any input or feedback is welcome. Let me know what you think of this whole ordeal, thanks!

I/we still love your TL bro. But things do change, I understand. I have just took the next step to parting my TL out too.

We purchased our 2006 Caddy SRX in august 2011 for $11,500 otd. N* V8 with navi, panoramic sunroof, third row seating, sport pkg and 127K miles. It has plenty of horsepower and rides really smooth. take your time looking and you will find you something decent. It took a couple of years browsing around until we found a deal we couldn't pass up. Good luck

Aww man, sorry, Tyler, but it happens sooner or later.

I wish you luck with whatever you get next but I'll always love your TL

Thanks man, Glad to hear you guys found a car! Hopefully I will find something before June so I can get back on the road if I sell my TL haha

Iv'e actually been considering some of those. Finding ones without crazy high miles for a good price is hard though.

I know the feeling you have, granted I didn't really get an option with my TL, but now that I have a new car I love it. Even though I know that TLs are very reliable and get so much better MPGs than my current ride, I can say that it is all worth it. I too have grown out of the lowered and fitted stage and I am more worried about the cleanliness of a nice stock appearance (and power mods lol).

I don't think most SUV's will be pounded on (neglected is different). I figured no kid was driving a caddy SRX and im comfortable working on vehicles, so some mileage doesn't scare me away. Overall condition was good, but I knew I could make it better

I replaced ALL fluids upon purchasing the vehicle, replaced the spark plugs, some minor suspension components, and a few cosmetic things. Added two 9 inch tv/dvd players in the headrest because the factory entertainment system was acting up.

If you know your way around the vehicle, maintenance can be easy . Still might want to consider a higher mileage vehicle or save up a little longer

Guess I'll be the one to say it "06tl4LIFE" huh?

Anywho, I get what you're saying about wanting something different and wanting to change it up. I always wanted a WRX, finally got one, modded the shit out of it, paid it off, and then soon after, sold it.

It seems like the boredom sets in after you finish modding a car or it's paid off. It sucks that you feel this way even after getting a new set of wheels, but you have to do what's best for you. Good luck with what you decide to do.

All part of growing up!

I recommend any 4Runner post 2005+. They are fantastic, dependable vehicles with low mileage. The V6 is a stout towing engine too.

Edit: Not to get too OT. Why the ZX? I have a 600RR and it's brilliant...

Might as well go ahead and just pick up a liter bike. 600's are fun, but they're weak in the torque department.

Maybe Supercharge or Turbo your TL and you wont be so bored with it? Every time I got bored I bought something new for my car. The ATLP exhaust was great and all for about 6 months, now I'm bored again. I bought AckTl05's Supercharger setup and its sitting at home waiting to be put in soon. I dont think i could ever get rid of my car no matter how bored I am. I've been thinking of picking up an S2k or a bike though, gotta convince the wife

Saving $ and practicality rules in my world. Keeping my TL until the monthly maintenance cost exceeds a monthly payment on a new car.

I'll tell you this . . . usually when people who have sold their TLs will usually get into another TL after realizing how much they've missed and liked their cars. Sure it'll be fun now to get a bike, but I'd hang onto that car a little longer if it's paid off. Use the "monthly payments" towards something you really want in cash without having to finance it.

anionrings brings up a good point, too, if you can swing it.

I'm about to get either a zx6r or cbr600rr what makes u want the zx over the cbr? I would sell the tl and buy a cheaper car then just buy the bike. After awhile though i know I'm just gonna hate i downgraded from my tl after modding it so much, and regret it so I'm saving up for one of these bikes. More going towards getting the cbr though.

I'd get a cbr600, mine was reliable and great fun.

But if you've got a gem of a TL with now problems, I'd just keep it. The bike is fun but not very practical and as I get older practical wins over everything.

Buy a GSXR. Sure, everybody has one but aftermarket upgrades and OEM stuff is a plenty on the cheap! If you have to make payments, though.. don't buy a motorcycle. Pay cash for toys.

I bought my 2000 F150 in 04 for 12 grand. Its been paid off since 2007. Bought it with 70k miles and its sitting at 169k now.

Longest vehicle i have ever onwned.

TL will be 2 years old to me end of this month.

And a caddy with 127k ouch if that goes out.

I would say a Ridgeline but those are horrible trucks. I like the newer F150s but I am partial to ford. 10k will get you into an 04-07 pickup but nothing fancy and mileage may be pushing 100k.

I have 5 kids and selling my bike was a tough choice but I would not own another one. To many cagers buried in their electronic devices going down the road. Unless you ride in packs life expentancy in a crowded area is low. Ask anyone in the medical profession.

This is my personal opinion and I am not hating on you for owning a bike. I have many friends above ground that own them and several more under ground that were owners as well.

Worked at a Honda Kawasaki bike shop for several years. Was a Honda fan before, but after seeing the number of Kawi's in the shop with problems, it made me appreciate the reliability of a Honda product...As we all know.

Go with the CBR600RR. You won't regret it...Unless you realize you'd prefer a 1L bike. GL

Kawis really are terrible. I had an 06 ZX10 and that bike was a complete shit box. I hated that bike. The braking was terrible and the bike was slow for a liter bike. It looked cool though.

Anyway, my first bike was an RC51. Was and still is one of my favorite bikes. Was a very reliable bike. Same goes for those I know with CBRs and Goldwings. High mileage and still going strong.

There is a stigma with "high mileage" motorcycles though, and for no good reason in my opinion. There is no reason why a motorcycle engine should not run 100,000 miles if you take care of it. People get scared of bikes with more than 20,000 miles on them. That's crazy to me.

On to pictures of dragging knee on my RC

I havnt thought about the 4runners, good call! I'll have to do some research on some. I just love the look of the new zx6r's and I heard they have really stepped up their game and are one of the best 600's on the market now.

I feel like I might get in to much trouble with a liter bike. I like the 600's for how nimble they are and how good they handle.

I wish man, I feel like spending that much money to get that power for the TL would be a waste though. If it were a lot cheaper I would consider it. Haha yeah I finally convinced mine to let me get a nice newer bike.

I would love to do that and I use to have a 2002 r6 and my TL. But I want to get a newer bike now and do it right so I dont have to worry about a lot of maintenance and stuff. I'm in college also so the funds right now won't really support both

That is true. I just want to make sure I wont regret selling it and let go of it with peace.

Iv'e heard great things about the new ZX6r's. Actually heard from many sources that they are now the best 600's out there.

I have been reading up lately and the cbr is for sure an option. I love the reliability and peace of mind with Honda's.

I was thinking about a gsxr but after doig some research I heard they are cheaply made and have a lot of problems. I do plan on paying cash for a bike though

Very good points, Iv'e known some people who have died on bikes and it is a very scary thought. Most of them were doing stupid things that caused the accidents though.

As a bike driver I would stay with the TL. These days there are way too many idiots out there and because of that I don't enjoy riding like I used to. I would update to a 2010 TL if I could. In the truck dept. I would go for a toyota pickup (tundra or Tacoma) after doing the research. Keep in mind that gas prices are going to spike again. If a bike purchase is in order the only answer is Honda if you can't afford a Ducati. Good luck and stay safe.

Whoa hold on there fella! I have a 2007 TLS with 95,000 miles & its paid off. Sure, I would like to get something newer/better but then I'd be back making $500+ a month car payments. I have a 2008 Suzuki Bking & 2010 Triumph Thunderbird 1700, both bikes are paid off, but when I was financing them they only cost me about $225 or so EACH a month. Actually I think the suzuki was $150 a month. Keep the TL because then you have no payments, buy a 600 bike & it'll cost you less then $200 a month.

Suzukis aren't cheaply made and do not have a lot of problems. Where did you find that information? A Honda motorcycle forum? haha

TL is my longest owned vehicle ever. Picked it up new, and it will be 7 years old in September. Previously best was 3 years.
