Debadge on 5 year old car?

Debadge on 5 year old car?
I've never debadged a car before, but I think the 3G TL looks amazing with the "Acura" and "TL" badges. I have a 2008 CBP TL. Would I have to worry about being able to see the difference in paint darkness where the badges used to be?
After some research, it seems like a hairdryer, dental floss, and goo gone is a good way to do it?

I personally think the TL looks plain and like it's missing something without those badges on. However, that's all personal opinion. To answer your question, I don't see how a car as young as a 3G TL would have paint/clearcoat fade, even it was never garaged. So I would imagine if you removed them there should be no difference. But, leave them on, it looks better ;-P

The general consensus around here is to rebadge. If you decide to do it, you've got the right tools listed.
But I agree with JTS.

I have a 08 CBP as well, I debadged mine two weeks ago looks great imo, you can't even tell there were badges there ! I used hair dryer, dental floss, goo gone, then turtle wax.

I've been going back on forth on whether I want to do it or not for a couple weeks, but seeing this pic get posted on the acura tl generation 3 facebook page made me really want to do it.

I removed my badges from my 2004 TL using a hairdryer and my fingers.
There might be a difference but if you polish it down a little, it should blend very nicely.

Hair dryer yes fishing line> dental floss and with a microfiber cloth and nail polish remover you'll be done in 20 min I did mine that way nothing worked till I used to nail polish remover or plain alcohol will work

Remove just the "Acura". Even Acura decided to do it. 95% of the cars today do not letter the brand. Just the symbol and model. It looks so much better. IMHO. You should have no sign of the old. Gasoline dissolves amazing well the adhesive.

yeah, you'll probably want to just stick to goo gone (it's citrus-based so I don't think it'll adversely affect the paint) and floss.
i debadged my 2007 a month ago and there was a difference in darkness where the letters used to be, but then it went away right when I used clay bar. Ultimate compound is also a good idea.
I'd say debadge but keep the Type-S

I like the Type-S badge moved to the bottom right

So i'm going to use the hair dryer until the badge can move around, then floss, then goo gone with a microfiber towel to get the tape off, then claybar, then wax. Is this right?

Plastic scraper or a credit card work great too, not hard enough to scratch the clear. I used a heat gun, plastic scraper, and 3M adhesive remover. No issues, looks much cleaner. I hate badges and would remove the A if there weren't two holes.

Debadge ftw. My Accord was 7 years old when I took off the "Accord" and "V6" emblems. The "H" would have been gone too if it wouldn't have left holes.
Looks so much cleaner and washing the back end is easier now.

Wether you will see ghosting or not depends a lot on the condition of your paint and how it was cared for. If I was neglected then you have to realize the paint under he emblem was protected and will look more pristine. UC by hand may not be enough.. You might want to stop in at a detailer and have him buff out the area with a machine.
