Dealerships in Bay Area
Hey whats up, Ive had my 06 NBP for 1 weeks now and just moved to Oakland from Arizona 2 days ago. I wanted to take the car in for warranty work on the 6disc changer that keeps skipping, the front passenger window wont roll up sometimes and a few rattles in the front dash area. Anyone know of good dealerships in the bay area, more specifically Oakland and will they perform work even though im the 2nd owner?

warranty covers the car not the owner- so you have whatever the car still has
Oakland Acura will take care of you- but beware when having them check the brakes.
Register with acura 1-800-382-2238 x5 as new owner and on their site
https://www.ahm-ownerlink.com/login.asp?brand=acura
and the link for free owner manual

Welcome to the Bay Area, check the Meets section- once spring hits there will be BBQs and drives again with 20-50 cars. Check out Hwy 120 from Manteca towards Yosemite- thats my fun run in the TL.

About oakland acura:
recently another member with fairly new RacingBrake front rotors who needed front calipers- they were failing when the rotors and pads were installed, but hadnt gotten it done yet
Some months go by and the guys wife takes the car there for an oil change and brake vibration. They take the brakes apart-"test and lube" the calipers, decide it MUST need front rotors and it also needs rear pads suddenly.
Estimate $540
I check the car, and install new front Legend calipers, find the rear pads past the sqealer tab and the rotors themselves baked- blackened- burned-
the fronts were not doing any of the work- forcing the rears to really work hard- none of that was noticed by the dealer- that the front rotors have no evidence of wear and the pads were fully glazed near new Hawk HPS.....
A tech at that dealer has RB brakes on his own car- yet totally missed the real problem was not rotor warp, but inop front calipers and toasted rear brakes.
To top it off- they charged $120, and left 1 of the 2 bolts that hold the caliper to the bracket- OFF-
GONE- MISSING- NOT THERE!!!! ooooops~
thats kind of a critical part
The wheel lug torque spec is 80 they had them at 132.
Thats not good for any rotors let alone the pricey ones
Isolated Incident? dealer policy to replace all brake parts when in doubt of shake on braking?, or careless techs who misdiagnose-guess-must be,
and leave critical bolts off that could then snap the brake caliper off in an emergency-
it would be an awesome sight as the car makes a sudden and very direct turn in the opposite direction of the failed part~
Its only 1 experience BUT enough to close a shop if that driver were killed

I bought mine from Marin Acura... haven't had any problems with them. But Oakland is probably your closest dealership. If your passenger window doesn't roll up sometime it might be the window motor/actuator arm (or something like that). I had my driver's side window actuator replaced, when I hit Auto up it rolled up half way then went back down. I had to hold my window switch till the window was closed. Welcome to the bay.

Welcome to the bay area ! oakland Acura sounds like the closest one to where you live ... but like the other poster pointed out, there are always some horror stories about the service dept. in lots of the dealerships ... if you are willing to travel, there are quite a few other Acura dealerships around the bay area ... Good luck !

Most of us will only take the car to the dealer for Warranty Work Only!
Maitenance can legally be performed by you or a private shop and not affect warranty- keep receipts!

thanks for the advice, i'll call oakland acura and see how they treat me and decide on there if i will go there for warranty work and an oil change. Are there any other acura dealerships in the east bay area? I would try out Marin but i would have to go to the other side of the bay and have realized that driving around here is a real bitch.

or look in hayward and south of there
web search for acura dealers
You cant go by the person who answers the phone, its the techs who matter
and look at the overhead cost of the building- is service(you) supporting that big sales area? usually the answer is yes.
