"Dealership Special"

http://links.honda.mkt015.com/servle...Y3S0&mt=1&rt=0

This is the email i received from Piazza Acura for their services special.

I know dealer always charges more. But $1295 for timing belt service and you called it special price.

what are your thoughts?

Thanks

Depends on what's included, I think around here (Wisconsin) they were charging around 1200 for the timing belt and water pump. There could be other things included but I can't remember...

$1200 is not special, here in Houston for that price they even offer to plush the radiator and other items for you.

Thumbs up

I get these emails from the closest Acura dealer as well, and although they are sometimes reduced prices compared to what they normally charge, it's still not a deal at all.

Acura dealers will always charge more than a Honda dealership. Which is why if I need to go to the stealership for service, I always got to the Honda dealership instead. They charge less for the same service and they know the car just as well.

Because at the end of the day, an Acura is just a Honda with a flashier appearance. Their interior components and service procedures are the same.

My recommendation: call up the nearest Honda dealership (if you don't want a chain or independent shop to do it) and have them give you a price quote for the same service. I can almost guarantee you that their "regular" price will be less than Acura's "special" price. And if it isn't, then that means for this particular offer, you're paying less than you normally would. It's a win-win for you.

since your in philly and Hamilton Honda isn't to far from you.
They usually charge less than 500 for timing belt service.

not certain if they offer the sale now but I paid about half that price you mentioned and I got a brake fluid flush, timing belt job, and some other work.

Im constantly getting emails from the Acura dealership I bought my TL at, offering service specials. Its ture theses service specials they offer me are a "deal" compaired to what they normaly charge for said service, but if you go to a honda dealer youll find Acuras prices (even with a special/coupon)are extreamily inflated compaired to honda and most ind shops.

Show the dealership this thread and ask them to do better.

By "special" they mean they're only charging you double instead of triple what an indy shop would charge. $69.95 for an oil change and tire rotation?! Hahaha that's just comical. That runs you $20-$30 everywhere in my city. Brake inspections are always free around here too.

Not to thread hi-jack, I'm 2500 miles over my B14. Called dealer for a price and almost hung-up on the guy when he $2100

Thinking I was being smart, I called Honda....!!$2300!! but the Honda dealer said they replace other stuff too while they are in there vs. the dealer only replacing the timing belt. I'm still not sure what all is done, seeing how the search button works out for me... havent been on here in a long-anus time anyway.

it all depends on where you are located. it seems Honda dealers in my area aren't THAT much cheaper than the Acura dealers for the same services.

hell jiffy lube (i've seen the receipt in a friend's car) charges $50 for an oil change around here i was shocked. if you're gonna spend that much you might as well just go to the dealer.
