Dealership rip off
A few weeks ago, I called acura to get an estimate on a side view mirror replacement, because I was side swiped. I was given one price that was some what descent. Today I called to see if that estimate was the same. It went up $200. It's my fault purely because I should know better then to go to the dealer. Word of advice for those who don't know (in which im sure most of you do) DON'T GO TO THE DEALER!!

Chevy did the same with my air bag sensor... 2011 part was $100, 2013 part was $225... Same part. Wasn't just my dealer, it was chevy as a whole that increased the price. Cost of owning a vehicle...

All very true but if your going to bs a customer, do it right the first time. Its like they make up prices off the top of their heads whenever they feel like it. Stealership lol

I go in Saturday ready to buy, key programmed in hand and they wanted $199.00. I gave them an earful! Its a bunch of B.S. Much keeper to find the key or parts on ebay or craiglist now a days.

any reason why you decided to wait a few weeks to buy the side mirror after getting the first estimate? it's not a part that you can just say "ehh....i'll buy it later in a few weeks" since it is pretty crucial.

So the next time you need to buy genuine Honda/Acura parts from a dealer, go to www.acuraoemparts.com and look up the listing for what you want where you'll see the current list price next to their discounts. Print out the page and take it with you to the dealer's parts dept. If they try to pull that crap on you, whip out your printout and shove it their face like I did.
They don't call 'em STEALERSHIPS fa nuttin!

Yeah, both tim and bruce are the way to go for oem stuff. I recently called a local honda dealer to get a quote on installing my aspec suspension just to see what they would say... $620 without an alingment. I laughed under my breath and the service writer also pulled the "that's what we charge" in a very defencive tone. I just decided to diy.

Well since were all enjoying saying how horrible dealerships are. A dealership near me wanted close to 650$ for pressure switches parts and labor. Pretty pathetic.

the mirror was still on but since the housing was cracked and had a hole in it i needed a new housing and not just the mirror. so i was looking through a cracked mirror. my luck only got worse when i ended up having to pay a $400 ticket along with other obligations that piled on so i had set backs that stopped me from fixing it right away.

why not just replace the housing? I'm gonna try one of mine soon, got the housing on the way. http://www.oemacuraparts.com/oem-par...6201-sep-a11zd

I work for a Honda dealer and honestly, its a business. We have overhead, we have employees to pay, we have health insurance plans, 401ks that dealers match, all sorts of other things that cost money. Unfortunately the internet has show what dealers cost to what the msrp is. Its one of the only businesses that this happens to. You dont go to walmart and bitch about the price of bread, you go somewhere else and buy the bread.
Dealers have price matching. If you go online or find it cheaper and have it in writing, most times they will honor that price. Its like anything, do your research and go to where the best price is or see if they will match.

When I use to have a TL I needed to get the red "O" ring replaced and I bought it at a Honda dealership 50 cents I believe and when I took my car to get it serviced at Acura they called and tell me the O ring was also replaced and that cost 23 bucks. I forgot to bring the ring in and had to do when they where working on it!

well go to another dealer, this does sound like typical NJ dealer scheme to me.
