The dealership doesn't want a 6MT trade

it's me, Alan Rickman.
Generally speaking luxury car owners aren't looking for a manual transmission in a car of this scale. There's a certain audience - mostly the performance minded ones who enjoy shifting - that are meant for the 6 speed, but a lot of people don't want to shift.
Today @ Niello there were two 6MT TLs there.. I love driving a stick but i'm sick of it in traffic so i'm going to go with an auto when I take the plunge.
Side note - Used 2007 TL NAV w/ 4500 miles - $39k
New 2007 TL-S NAV $38k
.... doesn't make sense to me!

The point made earlier was dead on - it depends where you live. I'm sure out West, especially Southern CA, 6MT's are common place. Down in the Banana Republic, AT's rule. I always had trouble selling my manual tranny cars, and I'm sure that would be reflected in any trade-in quotes now.
Personally, I miss not having a manual, but life goes on. That being said, the auto isn't too bad when crawling 20 miles in afternoon commute traffic.

The perfect solution for me is my 5MT cherry RED 1993 Honda DelSOl 5MT. Though somewhat underpowered it does allow me to play boy racer when I feel the need. As it turns out, the DelSol has only had 3-4000 miles driving in the past 2.5 years. My older bones are more attracted to the comfort of the TL on many more of my wanderings. Still, when I feel the need, it's out there.
OTOH, I guess a 6MT TL would combine the pleasures. I better stop before I go try to find one.

The day I bought my '04 TL (July 17, '04), Pohanka Acura in Chantilly, VA had 27% of their TL inventory in manual tranny cars. There were even three Antracite/Ebony/Nav ones from which I chose mine.
It's all in the market where you live.. simple as that. Here at work, I can think right away of 3 manual TL's. I see a fair amount of them on the street but fewer in the newer models (I know, '07 TLs no longer come with a manual transmission.. just the TL-S).
