Dealer Trades?

When a dealer doesnt not have the car for you on their lot is it bad to negotiate with them?

What should I look out for when we finalize a price and they have to get the car.....i know not to sign anything until the car is seen or vin# + dont put a deposit down,or do you have to?

Any help would be appreciated.

No it's not really bad to negotiate with them. Get them to check the surrounding dealers for the car first. They do have the ability to do that (I used to work at an Acura dealer) If one you want is out there, get them to make a phone call and find out if the car is available, miles currently on it, etc. That will give you a clearer idea if what you want is available or if you'll need to order it. Then finish negotiating the price on THAT car.
