Thumbs down Dealer Rant

So my power steering hose starts leaking on my 07 Type-S and I search online andcfind out there is a tsb for it. Cool I take it to Miami Acura and proceed to wait a few hours while they fix. I start walking the lot checking out the cars. I did this for at least 45 mins. Nobody ever approached me or asked if I needed help. I guess Acura is doing well. still waiting for car. Let's see if they try to charge me for this.

No Loaner? How long did they estimate it would take?

I like a dealership like that...I hate getting bombarded with a bunch of salesmen. It's easy enough to walk up to one of them if I have a question.

Technically there is no TSB/Recall for the Power Steering Hose on an '07 Type-S.

http://techinfo.honda.com/Rjanisis/pubs/SB/b08-016.pdf - Specifically excludes all '07 Type-S's.

Don't know how or why.

Just sayin'.

This should be covered under warranty. Perhaps the sales people saw you drive in with the TL-S. Of course I've had plenty ask me if I'm going to trade it in???

Did they fix the hose for you for free?

I went to the dealer and asked about it, I gave them my vin and they told me it had already been done. It includes the O ring and the Hose. But i ended up changing the o ring again and the noise went away. It only happened during the winter.

If you need to confirm it's been done, check step #50 on the linked TSB. Then see if you VIN plate was "punched".

Yeah, the car itself is probably still within the warranty, I'm just not sure if the warranty covers hoses or not.

Yes, Acura is doing well. They got you to buy one of their cars.

Yeah but I bought it used and saved 10s of thousands!!!!

So they ended up replacing it. At first they said it wasn't covered but then they put it under warranty coverage. One of the service guys found out that only the 07 Type-s MT is NOT covered. Which makes no sense to me but whatever.

I didn't want to change this myself if I could get it done for free. They said it would take 1.5 to 2 hours. Which it did.

I wasn't really bitching about the service just dealers in general.

Good deal for you!! Either those guys did you a favor or they need to learn the difference between 2007 and 2008. Your car was most definitely not covered by the TSB...Bank error in your favor!!! I'd keep those guys on your speed dial...

....

And still not right. Look at the TSB posted. It UPDATES the old TSB that said the '07 TL-S MT was NOT covered.

It changed from that to ALL '07 TL-S NOT covered.

Good on the OP, that he got it as warranty/goowill whatever. And good for the dealer.

But don't get every '07 TL-S owner that has a problem thinking that it's automatic. Some dealers may refuse warranty/goodwill based on the UPDATED TSB.

You know what? I felt like I got treated like shit this one time as well. I went back to the dealer where I got the car from because I only recieved one set of keys during the purchase. The sales guy that I dealt with was busy so I went right to service and told them the story. They said they could give me just the key for free but I would have to pay for the remote and they acted like they had nothing to do with it and told me to go talk to certain people instead of bringing me to them.

I was going to mention the wheels that are peeling and they also said I have to talk to the used car sales manager. I had to go up to his office alone and told him and he said I had to wait for him to get done negotiating and didn't pay attention to me.

I am 28 years old but I do look really young so they probably assumed that I don't know anything about business.

Curious...how many miles are on our TL-S for it to be covered under warranty. Acura called the wife and said there was a recall on her 06 TSX power steering....hmmm....

I've noticed if you are young most of them wont pay any attention to you even if you're serious about buying the car today.

I go to the dealership and sales ignores me too. I prefer it that way. If I need 'em, I'll find 'em.

Leave me the F'k alone, thank you very much.

When my dad and I go to dealerships they always come to us right away.

This is when looking young sucks, although it works well around girls.
