Dealer in Philly, Jersey area??

The closest dealer to me is Metro Acura/Volkswagon. When my wife leased a Jetta from them, the service was so so, but that was 4 years ago. Can anyone recommend a dealer in the Philly/Jersey area? My cars are usually dealer serviced, so I really don't want to drive too far for service.

Thanks

Dealer in Philly Area (Jones Acura, Lancaster, PA)

I previously posted this praise for a Pennsylvania dealer. I hope it will help you:

I live in the Washington, DC area. My family bought the very first Acura model (Legend) in 1987. Since that time, I have had a series of other cars (Honda, Nissan, Lexus). My 1996 Honda Civic EX recently passed the 90,000 mile mark and I felt that it was time to move on. I had heard nothing but good things about the TL so I test drove the 2004 this summer and decided that this car was the one for me. Since I did not want a "year old" car a few weeks after I bought the 2004, I decided to wait for the 2005.

Once acura.com posted the 2005 specs, I faxed a letter to all 16 dealers within a 100 mile radius of Washington, DC asking for the absolute best price on the car. Since I have worked in the car industry before and since I frequently read the postings on this website, I knew that I would not have to pay anywhere close to MSRP.

To my surprise, only 4 or 5 dealers contacted me. One or two said "we don't have any pricing info yet" despite the fact that the acura.com site had already posted the new 2005 prices. I decided not to buy from these dealers at all since they obviously did not keep current with the lastest Acura news. 2 or 3 dealers offered me a slight discount off of MSRP. The last dealer, Jones Acura in Lancaster, PA, represented by Salesman, George Fox, offered me $2,500.00 off MSRP for a 2005 TL, Automatic with Navigation, Anthracite with Ebony interior.

The entire deal with George was consummated over two faxes and one phone call. When I needed to take delivery before October 1 to get the best interest rate from my lender (USAA, 4.59% on a 5 year loan), George went the extra mile and found the exact car I was looking for at another dealer and I was able to take delivery on September 30.

In the end, even though I had to drive 2 hours to Lancaster, PA from Washington, DC, the experience was totally worth the trip in terms of quality pleasant service. I couldn't be happier with my purchase. My car is perfect. The Hands Free/Bluetooth works great with the new Sprint PCS/Sony Ericsson T-608 phone I bought just to work with the TL. Everybody who has seen it has loved it. I have a feeling that I will be sending more TL buyers to George at Jones Acura once more of my friends see the car.

I bought my car from Turnersville....they are about 30 minutes from me. I wanted to buy from Sussman, but they couldn't compete with the deal I got. I'll probably end up going to Sussman for service though as they are closer to me...

I went to Sussman in Jenkintown. Michelle was very nice over there. But I live too far from there for service so I'm going to West Chester for that. Good luck with your search.

Most people have positive experience with Sales, heck those guys are expert in human psychology
Wait till you have to deal with Service, wait till you have some issue with the car. This happy. cozy feeling may very well turn into a nightmare.

Point is: Research on their reputation on AFTERSALES support.

I have heard good things about Turnersville's prices, but how is the service there? Philadelphia Honda provides great service to me. I'm just looking for the same or better when I get my TL.

Haven't serviced yet, but Metro was good with the original sale. Price was the best I could find, no pressure, prob was no real sense of urgency with the locate. (I guess no pressure works in both directions).

I tried several others, including Castle (in Delaware) West Chester and Turnersville and pricing wasn't anywhere near what I got from Metro.

G'luck!

I would suggest that you go to Precision Acura in Lawerenceville NJ. Its a small personalized dealership not a factory. Service is great. Go see Pat Morata he was my salesman. Great guy no pressure.

I second that. Great service, really. Salesman Jim Swett is excellent as is Jeff Casole, sales manager. 609 895-0600.

Joens Acura in Lancaster

I live in the DC area and am about to pick up a 2005 TL from Jones this weekend. They offer the best deals right now in the east coast. I would recommend you shop there & make a separate decision on where to have your car serviced. I will get my car serviced locally, but none of the local dealers were competitive on price.

i leased mine (04 SSM NAV) from Acura of Turnersville in 2/04 and got a really good deal. Sussman couldn't even come close and I'm not sure why.

service at turnersville

i didn't read your later post. the only problem i had was that i had to get a strut replaced and they never called me to tell me they had to keep the car for another day or two b/c they didn't have the part. finally they let me know about 10 minutes before they closed. i think they did that so they wouldn't have to give me a loaner for the day. it was a real pain arranging transportation for 2 days. but, like i said before, it was a great deal at the time (i think $32,400 for 5AT NAV). whatever you do, get the NAV. i would also recommend the 6SPD if you really want to drive it. i couldn't b/c the wife can't drive stick and i had to make a few concessions to keep her in her accord and put me in a TL.

why can't you get the service at your honda dealer?

I bought my 99 navi from Pat. I went back to him in 2002 to buy my 03 TLS-Navi and his crack addiction was apparent!

My 03 TLS-Navi came from Davis Acura in Langhorne. Nice people.

Metro's service guys are pretty decent and my salesperson, Ali, was great. The biggest problem is turn-over. I bought my first Acura (2000 TL) at Montgomeryville (close to home). Nice salesman - Uncle Milty. Seemed like he'd drive a Buick. After my first 1000 miles, I did my own oil change. I noticed a leak at that time. I doubted it was my fault having done my own oil changes for almost 20yrs. I called Montgomeryville. They couldn't fit me in on a Saturday for weeks and didn't think a brand new car they sold leaking oil was an urgent problem. I was shocked. I called Metro (close to work). The service guy told me to bring it in right away (the next morning) since an oil leak IS an urgent problem. Turns out it was not my fault as the leak was coming from a faulty gasket about which Acura had released a little-known TSB. I had my car serviced at Metro thereafter and bought my 2004 TL there. My saleperson who was fairly new in February is gone. 3 or more service guys, including the former manager, Mike J, are gone. I think a few followed Mike to NJ. Still, they do seem to care about the customer at Metro. Montgomeryville will never see me again. I must say, I do miss the treatment I received from the Wilkie Lexus service department when I had an ES300 before my first TL. Even though I had the "starter" Lexus, the treatment was fantastic. Also, for excellent treatment, J.L. Freed Honda is terrific with my wife's Pilot. We bought the Pilot at Philly Honda. After installing the towing package, they forgot to refill the power-steering pump! Luckily my wife is car savy and realized within a few miles that something was wrong. They tried to dance around their mistake AND even scratched the car doing repairs. If she wants another Honda in the future, it will come from Freed.

I bought from Sussman of Ardmore. I would not go back. When I had a couple of issues after the sale, the guy would not take or return my call. He did try to call me several weeks later when he needed something from me. Yeah right.

I get service from Castle in Wilmington. Service Dept is outstanding although I would not buy there.

why can't you get the service at your honda dealer?
I know it is the same company, but I never gave serious thought about Honda servicing an Acura since the Acura dealer is only 4 dealerships down the road.

Thanks for the replies everyone. Reading all the posts, it is funny how some dealerships will give you a great deal to buy a car but could care less about servicing the car they just sold you.

njsesq,
I agree about the turnover. Whenever I stop in, and it is not often, there are all new faces. When my purchase is done, I will give Metro the first shot at servicing the car.
