Deal or no deal???
I was looking at the 3G TL owners sign in thread to get an idea of what u guys paid for your TL's and some ppl got REALLY good deals on their cars and im wondering how you guys did it? U must have realli good negotiating skills or the mileage was high or u traded in a car or it had some damage or somethin cuz i always believed in "if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is."
So im in the market for a Type S and I ran into this one
http://www.cars.com/go/search/detail...acktype=usedcc
its 2008 CBP Type S Auto with 25K for almost 30K$. I feel like its $$$ cuz its in IL and they are super rare here, but yea is this a good deal? its 1 owner, too.
i feel like 30,000 was the price for a brand new base TL with Navi back in 2008, but i gues Acura know's how HOT type S's are and they know that it will sell fast with whatever price they ask

The TL-S was going for as low as 31K with some incentives + Tax, Tag and Title.
A good middle ground as far as pricing is half-way between retail and Good trade in value. That asking price is a bit high esp. seeing that the car has some wear to it (marks on the steering wheel & airbag, drips on the side of the driver seat, etc). Also the tires they have on it are Yokohama AVID ENVigor tires which aren't the best tires for the TL and are Highway All Seasons.
I'm taking a stab and saying that 27,500 OTD with better tires like the stock summer tires is a good deal.

^Agreed.
That CBP Type-S is a bit pricey.

I would offer 25.5OTD and see what the counter offer is. No way should you pay that price. I just searched cars.com and found 22 2007-08 TypeS in a 50 mile radius of your location, not as rare as you think.

what does the rest of the market on type-S AT with similar mileage look like?? that will give you an idea of the going current market price.
you want to make sure the price you pay is the OTD price not the car price plus all the tax and tags stuff. go in with a price you are willing to pay say $27,500 OTD, reasonably low ball the dealer and see if they meet you half way. if you are interested they will want to get as much money out of you (since you're buying used). if you bought new, then you get a bit more leverage when they sell on volume vs making a commission off an individual sale (they'll still make bonus money if they just manage to sell a new car).
another thing to keep in mind that the car is CPO, so you'll pay a little more than market b/c of the CPO (and the extended warranty that goes with it). there are deals to be had, you just have to be smart about your purchase and you also have to know what you want out of the deal. ahhh, the joys of the internet. knowledge is power.
hope this helps...good luck.

$30 grand is high. They say new tires and didn't even install the factory OE Michelins that go for $235 each but choose $135 Envigors. Just an FYI-The factory HXMX4 at 93Y are no longer avaiable, but the replacement HXM4 94Y is at $225 each, smaller diameter but that's a story for another day.
If you want CBP take a look at the one at Acura of Libertyville:
$25,995 41K miles CPO
Others in the area, so take a look:

thank you for all the input so far. OK so ive decided no deal, too because I checked the free carfax report and the car was used as a "corporate" vehicle which could explain the wear and tear in the seats and airbags. im looking for a TL with a loan/lien record because I feel like those are the best car owners. I feel like for 30K i Can get a 4G TL
@Justnspace LOL im glad u rememeber that detail, the RL didnt feel right for my age (24).I like sport luxury more than luxury sport.
im juss gonna be patient. Hoepfully carmax will get a TL in IL cuz "no-haggle" seems to suit me best cuz I get the impression that car dealers hate to sell me a type S for whatever reason (i guess that makes me cynical)

Talk them down to 28k OTD That's what I did on mine and got 3%. When I got mine it had only 18k on it. A couple door dings , but noting else too major with the car. That was with an extended mechanical warranty tacked on.

I don't know if you want to do this but you may also want to look at Canada. Used Car's are generally a lot cheaper here then in the US (not sure why!) however it's the opposite for brand new vehicles brand new US has better pricing then CAN.
Here is a 6spd manual with 58,000 KM ~ 36,000 miles going for $24,988 CAD which is about $25,600 USD in the current market.
