CV joint DIY?

Has anyone in here done the CV joints yet? Searched for a DIY and couldn't find one. Anyways, if anyone has done them, is it a pretty straight forward job or is there something I should watch out for?

If the joints are bad, you're better off doing an axle replacement. Joint replacement isn't difficult, just time consuming and special pliers are needed for the clamps.

Do you have an AT or MT? If it's AT, your parts will be a lot cheaper if you were to purchase a new transaxle. I bought one for $70 for the passenger side once mine had gone bad. And since I have a MT, I had a place rebuild my driver side transaxle.

Yeah axles are relatively cheap at Napa $90 as apposed to $250 OEMs so will definitely go with the axles, thanks. I have an AT so parts are cheap. I've done a couple of jobs where I have had issues with the ball joints. How difficult is it to pull ball joints on TLs? Will the pitman ball joint puller from autozone work on these?

How do you know if you have bad CV Joint VS Ball Joint? Does replacing the trans axle replace both? Not too familiar with axles and suspension, can you tell?

Just start browsing the web for information and pick up an inexpensive auto repair manual.

You'll need to start doing some research on the subject, but a quick search:

This will show the location in relationship to the drive axles:
