Custom license plates? (merged with all the older threads)

Allright guys, new assignment for everyone...

I am looking to get a personalized plate for the TL...nothing lame though.

The particular plate I am looking at is a CA one with either the flag or palm trees (see link: http://www.dmv.ca.gov/online/elp/elp.htm) Any ideas for my pate?? It can only have 6 characters ( I think). Keep in mind I'm only 23 years old, so try not to date me too much!!

As always, thanks...

Is it really a personalized plate if someone else comes up with it?

Come on man.

Just looking for ideas, you don't need to contribute if you don't want to. Anyway, the plates people come up with on their own suck, so I figured a little group effort might produce a decent one.

BTW...Bartman is maybe not the most original user name ever?? Huh, huh?? Just kidding man...

This will be dumb, I know, but it would be cool if you could incorporate the "TL" name into it.....now if we could condense "Keep it on the TL" into a license plate sized format. Sort of a play upon "Keep it on the down low (DL)".

See, I know, stupid.

Sorry, just had to bust your b***s a little. I'm just jealous because I was driving a beige Mecury Topaz when I was 23.

No, you are allowed 7 characters.

Definitely go with the American Flag; the palm tree one is passe'.

As for what it should say, avoid anything that has anything to do with the car. Believe it or not, you won't be keeping this car forever, and nothing says "lame" quite like a personalized plate saying "RED VETT" on the back of a white minivan.

P.S. I'm down in OC and I didn't feel a thing.

:lol1:

I know the regular plates have 7 characters, but I tried to submit a request for the palm tree one and it only allows 6....I may just get one of those plates with the sequential #'s. Who knows

I like FASTTL....of course, its taken. Thanks for the suggestion though.

I had a California vanity plate a couple of years ago that had 7 letters, but mine was the regular white one, not the palm tree one. However, I don't see why it would matter; it's not like those palm trees take up any lettering space...

Update: I took a look at the selection page https://vrir.dmv.ca.gov/ipp/PerLicensePlateServlet and it does indeed show 7 characters for some and only 6 for others. All the more reason to go with the "Memorial" plate.

As dumb as this sounds...the state actually moves the characters over one space to allow a clear view of the palm trees <-- very important!

I had a vanity plate on the BMW, and may get one for the NSX, so I have given the TL options some thought . . .

TL 6 ND AM or TL 6AM (As in "till 6 in the mornin")

TL DAWN

TIZZ EL (Fo Shizzle!)

04 TL 6MT

TOTL LZR

TEEISH L (inside joke, "Teeish" means trashy; most people will think golf)

Q SHIP (stealth sports car, from armed WWII merchant ships, undoubtedly taken by a local BMW E28 M5)

TL does not have a lot of options, but TL does make a good 'till.

Usually best to keep it personal or amusing. Two or more meanings are good.

I debated NO RICER for the NSX. Could work for the TL, but I don't like the negative connotation, even though it is tongue-in-cheek.

TI 3VOM (Best viewed from a G35 rear-view mirror - Already taken in my state ... Sigh.)

XLR8NG (Can be read as either "accelerating" or "exhilarating" - both applicable - and also taken in my state)

IMD14U - If you really are looking for a date and aren't shy about it.

Years ago my son was a huge Starwars fan and we had a black Civic he called the Darth Mobile. I got vanity plates on the car that said STARWARS for him.

One day the battery died and I was stuck in the middle of a busy Avenue. A police car pulled up behind me and yelled through the speaker, "Hey Starwars, use the force and move that car outta here!"

Anyway no more Vanity Plates for me - it makes you much too conspicuous.
