Curious

Hey all, Was just wondering about a few options I've come across.

Was interested in getting a few opinions.

1. 2005 TL + NO navi + aspec package (suspenstion, steering wheel, brakes, 18x8.5 gunmetals)

2. 2005 TL + navi

Which side of the fence would ya'll fall on? (please assume similar mileage and interior/exterior colours & price).

Navi. Much easier to install A-spec later than upgrade non-navi to navi.

Definitely Navi, as stated above the Navi conversion is a much bigger hassle than any of the upgrades you've listed for the non-navi. But then again, it all depends on personal preferences.

I'd go with navi, make the car look complete, I'm glad I did

But what about cost??

If you can get a whole NAVI conversion done for say $1,800 (approx),

how much will it take to get the aspec package done?? (aspec 18x8.5 gunmetals, skirts, steering wheel, suspension)?

its not the cost of the navi it is the work that is involved with getting it all done. Wheels and side skirt and suspension work are way easier than the electrical hassle involved with the navi upgrade. I guess in the end what is your time worth to you.

The labor is something to consider. It's going to be easier to start with the car that comes with navi.

But, if you are willing to pay for everything, then I guess it doesn't matter either way?

Option 1. Though Navigation is a pain in the rear to install, you're getting at least $2000 worth of options from the A SPEC package. It will cost you about $1500 to get Navigation put in by someone. Though it is a pain in the ass, you're getting over $500 more from the A SPEC package. I'd rather have my car looking good on the outside than just a Navigation unit in the inside + save $500. $500 could be used to buy the full Navigation unit, than save another $800-$1100 to get it installed by someone. Assuming the A SPEC package is new and the brakes aren't old, the suspension is not about to break, etc...

Thanks

Thanks so much all.

It seems the majority of ppl. suggest getting the car with navi and adding Aspec to it later/afterward.

I won't lie. I was very surprised.

I would have thought ppl. would suggest to get the Aspec package first (as it's relatively rare), and have the Navi added afterward. (seems for about $1500 or so).

I'm pretty useless and would need help installing EITHER aspec or navi anyway.

I DEF say Nav too but if you just simply dont use it or drive to the same places all the time, then go with the non-Nav.

Are either of them a M/T?

I ask because in your original post you mention that the option 1 included upgraded brakes, yet the Brembo brakes were exclusive for 2004-2006 model year TL equipped with a manual transmission.

If you dont use or need the navi that much get the aspec without a doubt! If you feel you want or need the navi more. Than you can add the aspec later on.

Thanks

Hey all,

I appreciate all the input. It seems Navi is winning over the whole Aspec kit.

I can honestly say I'm surprised.

Unfortunately, it's very difficult to find both A-spec & Navi together. (or maybe it is at my price point).

Please keep the opinions coming.

If it was to be installed later. Which is the cheaper install? Full A-spec kit or Navi? (time aside since I'd try and get it done).

A-Spec can cost around $1000-1300 and navi can be more than that I believe.

If you're going to do the install yourself...Aspec kit is about $900..suspension another $600. I do not know the price of Navi install...but I am sure that Aspec is 10x easier

As I've said here before many times when someone asks this question, the best part about getting the Navi is that you'll never be on of the 10's of 1000's that didn't who wound up banging their heads into the wall after wards wishing they they had.

Make no mistake about it, that screen is the HEART of the interior.

Good Luck ...........

I say neither. Get a 6mt.

Oh... I just read what you said about your wife.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but it doesn't make sense that the first car has the brembo's and is still an automatic. Even if it is an A-spec it still shouldn't have the brembo's. Automatic A-spec'ed cars got upgrade brake pads to compensate for the lack of brembo's. That first car sounds fishy.

Go with the second one then. With the navi. Not because I think the navi is better, but because you only gave us two choices and the first car sounds wrong by description. Someone tinkered on it.

In the 1st post did you mean that the 1st car had upgraded pads or did it actually have the brembo calipers?

Can you give us links to the cars so we can see?
