Curbed 2 rims tonight

damm!! no pics yet, i'll take some in the morning. curbed one of the rims about a 1/4 of the wheel and the other has about 1 inch curb check, real deep checks. all happened in a split second, i was stopped at a stop light and out of nowhere here comes a full size 4x4 that wasn't slowing down, i shifted gears quick and jumped into the gravel/no gravel shoulder on a shitty road.(the shoulder had no gravel between the road and the shoulder which there was a 2 foot gap between both roads) the truck plowed the car in front of me. no one was seriously hurt, i'm lucky i guess.

two new rims are cheaper than a whole new rear end! Its good to hear that you got out ok. Monday call up some wheel repair places and see the price of refinishing them rather than buying new ones.

Sorry to see that, bro, but at least you and the car didn't suffer any injury.

x2! I would've done the same thing you did Evolicarus! I'd sacrifice my rims over any damage from any accident to the car's body any day (knocking on wood)

Glad you're safe...could've been worse, but i feel you...it is your baby's shoes

Infamous Link -

Glad you ok. F* the rims bro. you (and the car) are most important. Everyone here with quick reflexes would've done the same.
is there any way you can claim it on the accident??? that would be sweet. probably not tho since technically you weren't involved in the accident but to avoid the accident, this occured.

^^i doubt it, but i'm either going to just live with the rims being banged up or try to find a wheel repair guy that can make them look decent again, 600 dollars for 2 rims isn't in my budget now since i sold my house.

as for the above post, the falken tires have been very good so far, not as grippy as the nittos but still work well in the rain.

Dude, those curb rashes don't look bad at all! Mine are far worse and once you get over the initial shock of an imperfect wheel, you'll learn to live with them. Good reflexes on your part.

that sucks I HATE curbed rims! The first pic doesn't look too bad but the second one sucks. If it bothers you just get them fixed, no big deal.

if ur willing to PUT in work your self, it can be done.. I macked up my whole right side(wheels).. similar to that if not worse. i sanded out the gashes with 80g and 120g. wet/dry.. then worked my way up to 2000 applied some mothers polish and back to normal. i put in multiple hours and honstly u cant tell at all.. it can be done but its much labor.. give it a shot.. i saved myself 2k on a new set of wheels.. wanted to do a diy but i didnt take pictures before i started.. good luck.

the lower the grit the duller it is going to be.. it started to get shinier and shinier with every step.. ull get what u put in. i would suggest multiple layers of sanding after 600..but put in work with the earlier stages as well. i would do all the rims to ensure they match or do one and see first..ill see if i can get a pic up soon and show u a after. hope it will help

Damn .. damaged Shines ... I guess you never thought to try to claim it is incidental damage from the accident against the 4x4 owner? You damage was caused by his actions and he did hit the other car.
