Cup holder dimensions

First up, I have a 2009 Honda Accord.

I like it. There are some quirky things here and there, but I like it. I also have a lot of plans for the car. Just recently, thought up of another plan.

The cup holder, in particular, the cup holder cover/lid. On my Accord, it's just one, solid door that I flip to the side and it snaps open. It's nice. It's firm. It's plain and boring. I love the cover on the TL's, especially the 3rd generation since it looks roughly the same size as mine. However, I can only estimate this.

I was wondering if anyone can do me a favor and take some measurements since I'm thinking of getting my hands on a TL's center console and more or less, retrofit the TL's cup holder/cup holder cover into my Accord.

For the measurements, I need the following:
1. Length of the opening
2. Length of the lid when closed
3. Width of the opening
4. Width of the lid when closed
5. Depth of the shallow cup holder
6. Depth of the deep cup holder
7. Width of the entire bezel at both the thinest (on the sides of the cup holders) and widest points (up against the center storage compartment)
8. Length of the entire bezel

Also, requesting a picture of where the lid slides into when opened if possible, and dimensions of that as well if possible.

Thanks in advance!

EDIT: Here's a picture of the Accord's cup holder + bezel. Most likely, I'm going to have to hack it up underneath the bezel then glue and fiberglass it into place since there isn't that much clearance between the cup holder's lid and shifter opening on top of the emergency brake being on opposite sides between the Accord and TL.

Bump.

I'm assuming no one has their interior yaken apart at this time. At the very least, wouldn't mind the dimensions of the lid and opening the the interior depths while it's still in the car.

Guess not lol

Either I'm gonna pay a dealership a visit and see if I can do some measuring or buy one in the dark and hope I can work with it without hacking my current one up too much.

Sorry, been too busy measuring my headlights for eyebrow lashes...

Maybe I'll get some of the external cupholder dimensions for you tonight.

I think a search will show a couple of threads with diagrams where people had to replace the broken cupholder sliding door, BTW.

Thanks.

I'll dig around and see if I can find them, though my main issue is, this is going to be fabricated into a 2009 Accord where the design is completely different. I just want to make sure I'll have a proper clearance if I go and hack mine out, or if I need to widen the opening on mine partially or if I need to find a way to make it smaller. I just don't know if Honda was nice enough to make the openings the same size or not.

It curls up underneath of the rear portion in a 'J' shaped channel. In order to make this work, you need to understand that you will have to provide two grooves for the slider tabs to function as designed.

At a minimum, you're going to need a full cupholder, remove the top cover, and retrofit the remaining cup/'J' channel to your existing bezel. Trying anything else, IMHO, would be nothing short of a nightmare.

Here is a thread on the 3G TL console removal, to get to the cup holders: https://acurazine.com/forums/3g-tl-2004-2008-93/those-who-have-service-manual-i-need-help-3g-garage-f-052-a-557238/.
This thread on a lighting mod for the cup holders also has photos showing parts and pieces of the cup holder assembly, but not as a whole: https://acurazine.com/forums/3g-tl-2004-2008-93/g-100-diy-led-interior-part-x-cupholder-illumination-755388/.

Hey man. Thanks. Exactly what I needed. I find it a bit interesting the difference between the shallow and deep cup holders is just 1/4th of an inch. Doesn't look like it.

My initial plan is to completely remove my original cup holder directly underneath the bezel. Not sure if it's molded together or if there's bolts holding it in, but a part of me is saying it's potentially molded. Could be wrong, though, and it's easier than I think. I do intend to buy a complete cup holder assembly (or as much of it as I can) from Acura to hack up, unless I get lucky and find a wrecked TL (as sad of a thought as that is) and salvage from that.

If, for some reason, I have to fabricate my own "J" channel, I'll probably be at a road block for the time being. Hoping there's room underneath the center bezel for the TL's track to fit. In all honesty, I'm hoping I get the easy way in this mod and it's just a direct swap where I have to figure out how to attach it to my bezel at most.

Saw the second link. Help's a little bit, but it didn't provide any dimensions so I can figure out if I need to do anything more or less to my current setup. The first link, kind of irrelevant for my needs since I will be buying a new assembly from Acura. If, for some reason, I end up getting it from a TL in a junkyard, then I Take my previous statement back since it will help me get it out of the TL.

And nice on getting beaten to the punch lol

Thanks again you guys. Hopefully I can go ahead with this project and it comes out with my desired results. If it works out, I'll definitely be posting back in this with the results and hopefully start something in the 8th gen Accord scene lol

So digging around on an Accord forum, found some potential hope.

Found a DIY where someone was doing the LED lighting in the cup holder on the Accord and they have a picture of the underside. Bottom for mine is screwed into place. For those that have taken their cup holders out, do the visible screws in the following image seem to line up with the TL's? I'm thinking there's one more that's not visible thanks to the angle of the picture.

Also provides an idea of how close to the back of the bezel the cup holder in my Accord is. Does it appear to have clearance for the J rail for the cover, just by glancing at the image?

This should help. Not 100% of what you need, but should provide some insight...

Hard to see where the screw mounts are in that. Already subscribed to that thread, though XD Hm. Now that I think about, I think jptl04's custom iPhone mount's metal frame might show where the screw mounts are if I remember right.

I'm going to assume that means from the bottom of the deep one to the bottom of the shallow one? So add both those measurements and I'll get the depth from the top of the cup holder to the bottom of the lowest?

I just checked with a tape measure and got these measurements on my '05:
5. 4.25" from the bottom of rear cupholder to top of bezel
6. 5.25" from the bottom of forward cupholder to top of bezel
7. 5-3/16" and 5-5/8"
8. 9.75"
