Thumbs up Crossing over to the dark side? ;)

hey guys what's up,,, i'll be joining the 3Gen crew very soon read here about it
https://acurazine.com/forums/car-parts-sale-361/fs-99-bmw-328i-e46-bodystyle-162175/

i'll be in the market for an 04-05 6MT

my questions are,, what do u think are the best exterior colors for those years?,,
i have a set of Chrome 18 x 7.5 Enkei LM1/5s's that i'll be putting on the new car once i find one for the right price and mileage,,

what do you's think is the best color to match up against chrome wheels? i'm thinkin a really nice blue?

i want to stay away from black because of keeping up with how dirty black gets,, my second gen TL was WDP and chrome looked good with that,, but this is alll about change now,, so give me your thoughts! i want to stay away from 5AT also,, way too boring for me.

18x7.5????? IMO, it's gonna look real narrow on the car.... specially since they are probably 2G TL fitment (high offset)....

I think you should sell them and get a new set at least with 8" to 8.5" width.... to put on the 3G...

I'm real partial to WDP... so my vote is WDP with Black Interior w/ Navigation....

235/40 18 is the stock tire size for the 05-06 A-spec wheels, it wont look that bad. I also like WDP but if change is what you need...

ohhh... I didn't notice that you're looking into the 6MT.... if you do find one and purchase it.... just know that those wheels you have WILL NOT FIT OVER THE STOCK BREMBO CALIPERS... Sorry dude....

my vote is for NBP, but since you don't want black,
go for the RRP, redondo red pearl...2nd best color IMO

throw those wheels on the black market and get yourself some 19x8"s or 19x8.5"s that will clear the 6MT brembos

18" wheels wouldn't fit over brembo setup because......? i thought stock the a-specs were 18 as wel as mentioned abovel? what is the difference? the offset? would wheel spacers help resolve this? i'm going for an 04-05 not an 06 model

I think with chrome wheels any darker color looks great with them. Silver IMO doesn't look with wheels that are 100% chrome. Even white looks good with chrome. IMHO any color except silver looks good with wheels that are 100% chrome.

When I bought a set of chromed TL wheels I didn't like how the chrome wheels made my ASM look darker and almost dull. I will go get a pic.

04-06 TL... Stock wheels are 17 x 8" and A Spec wheels are 18x8 (18x8.5 in 2004)....

We are all jumping to conclusions.... those Enkei LM1/5s might fit over the brembo brakes, since they don't have any lip... so get the car and then try them on...

Yes, the key factor in selecting a wheel for the 6MT 3G TL is offset and design of the wheel...

Wheel spacers would definitely help... but do you really want to be driving with spacers on???? could be dangerous, IMO...

If you don't want white again, I don't like 100% chrome wheels on silver, black is TOO much work. How about red/maroon or blue? Not much other choice unless you want gold or green.

My choice would be ABP! abp on a grey interior! I would have gotten that on my 07 if they had offered it!

The wheels you got wont fit over the brembos of a 6spd , your best bet is to sell them

I know right, that's funny as hell...but ya live and you learn...albeit it's not a stretch if you buy wheels that have already been done and fit. That's not really the case with his tho...

He had the rims on the 2nd Gen TL, the car is now totaled and he is upgrading to a 3rd Gen. He just asked if these rims will fit a 6spd TL.

I agree that RRP is the second best color. ACTUALLY it ties with WDP. number 1 will ALWAYS be NBP but the RRP is pretty sexy and I dont think it has the mis match issues like WDP

so i found a car worth looking into,, i will just list the main options that it has that are important to me and the other specs
it's a 2004 TL with 59,000 miles listed at $18,900
6spd
Navigation
Black Leather interior
it says Burgandy for the exterior, here is the pic of it,, isn't this Redondo Red Pearl tho??

what do u guys think? good deal? thoughts? i would have posted the link to the listing ,, but who knows, maybe someone else on the board is looking for a car as well,, i wouldn't wanna give up my opportunity now would i

also i'll be putting down $11,000 cash as the downpayment,, payments would be very low hmmm

yes, that is RRP

...and if the car is in good shape, that is a pretty good deal

especially assuming you can talk the seller down a G or 2

IMO...go for it

...but please take off the BSMs

oh yea those BSM's will definitly come off,, it also has the oem spoiler in the back,, i was a never a big fan of it on the 3rd gens,, i think it just destroys the lines of the car,, that will be coming off too. What will be going on is the A-spec bodykit. i am a fan of that.
