Crooked Glove Compartment, anyone else notice? (3G TL Garage# F-043)

I've noticed this pretty much on all TLs, including mine.

Can be fixed but is difficult. The dealers just don't seem to understand how its assembled. Its amazing to me that they (Acura) can engineer a 270hp engine but can't design a glovebox that anyone can understand.
You need to take it apart, adjust it, and put it back together. Easier said than done. Think I'll open "Mike's Glovebox Repair Shop". My ticket to fame and global riches.
I fixed mine within a week of ownership. Not only misaligned but rattled. Should have taken pictures. If it wasn't such a pain in the &#% I would do it again (with pictures) but so far its working perfectly and theres no reason to.

I finally have a quiet and aligned glove box. After multiple tries and insisting that the dealership do the TSB that there is on the glove box, it is aligned. I don't have the TSB but it mentions that they must order clips for the glove box and install them. This tightens the driver's side of the box and then staightens the alignment out. Get them to do the TSB.

I got some pictures while taking it apart, my 3rd try. If michael3314 doesn't mind, I'll post pictures and his instruction together later.

Thanks michael3314...

I just copied what michael3314 said in the following threads. Some of pics are not focused well. Please bear with me.

The hard part is getting it out. Inside the glove box there are two black plastic pieces that are the hinges.

One on each side. With the glove box half way open, push the clip towards the front of the car and away from the box (left or right depending on which side). If you can get your fingers on the outside of the clip and push the two small clips that holds the black plastic hinge in place, it comes out easier. Thats the hard part.

Now remove the two screws at the bottem of the glove box that attach it to the dash and you'll have the glove box removed.

There are about 12 screws that hold the box to the front panel. Remove those.

you can now see the two screws that hold the catch in place. Loosen, adjust, and retighten. Here is the another hard part... see those two black screws one on each side? Loosen those up and push the catch towards the bottom of the glovebox (top of my picture). Retighten and the catch should hold the glovebox tighter.

In my first two tries, the catch was moved back after a period of time 'cause the screws cannot hold it, then my glovebox is squeaking again. In my 3rd try, I inserted two rubber bands (of the faucet) between the catch and the border of the glovebox (bottom of my picture). This will make sure that catch is never moving down again.

There is another good post. https://acurazine.com/forums/showpos...72&postcount=9 by maecrispy
.

My next goal is to shoot the pictures while fixing my headliner... wish me lock.

For the life of me I could NOT figure out how to remove the two stoppers (B) to release the box. Any help would be appreciated!

Use a flat head screw driver-insert it between the box and the clip-then try to pry it out. Once the clip gets loosended, push the glove box a bit foward, then grab the clip and remove it.

The clips won't break or wear? I'll be able to pop them back in?

Mine are removed and put back 10+ times... no problems and still tight.

Novice is correct.

(Dealers ever told me that occasionally they may accidently break those two clips, and they have to replace them. But I guess this is rare.)

And thank you too. I was wondering how to get them out when it is time to replace my cabin air filter, and now I know.

What's the number of the TSB? If the dealer has a TSB, they ought to have to fix it.

be nice if we could replace it with a larger glove box that can hold more than the owners manual and an insurance card.
