I'm trying to put together a short list of the top 10 common problems that someone could look for when buying an Gen 2, 3 or 4 TL.

What would you say are the top 10 common TL Specific problems to look for? Thanks for the help.

Sorry, thats 3rd, 4th and 5th gen. Not 2nd.

Gen 5 is a new animal....I think that you need to do a separate list for each gen...or do what thoiboi suggested

excellent point, great idea to concentrate on 3 & 4 to simplify it...

 

plasti dip getting into the drivers side heated seat switch is a real PITA. very common and problematic issue on these 3rd gens with no real documented fix yet. Even Acura themselves are baffled by this

 

This is just silly. There aren't ten total problems that are uniform across three generations of the TL. And second gens most certainly did have transmission problems.

 

What would you look for specifically, knowing the Acura TL more than the average person? I'm wondering what I need to look for if I'm going to test drive one. I know some Generations have more problems than others.

1.) It's a used car....normal stuff (check maintenance, fluids, joints, bushings, wheels, tires, axles, belts, etc)
2.) Transmission
3.) HFL
4.) Cracked Dashboard
5.) Mirror Actuators

That is about it on the "common" stuff that comes to mind. That was basically the list I gave family members who have looked at TLs.
