crashed my 08 kbp type-s

it's a learning experience brother. i haven't been in any major accidents myself, but i've definitely had my fair share of tickets and flashing red lights. i got pulled over going 140 down an empty freeway. good luck with the car man; unfortunately, you may wanna be shopping for another insurance company
i feel your pain! best of luck to you.

When you get behind the wheel of the next car, or when your kbp is out of the shop, focus on these things to prevent another mishap from occuring...
-lane choice
-road choice
-vehicle positioning
-distance behind
-distance ahead
-spatial awareness
Preventing an accident can begin with knowing what vehicles are around your car, and where they are located in relation to your car.
Pay attention to the little details about what drivers around your car are doing inside their car. They may be talking on the phone, looking at a lap top, playing with their ipod, eating, distracted by their baby.
Whenever I see these types of things when i'm coming up beside a driver that is engaged in such an activity, I become extra cautious when overtaking that vehicle.
I have driven my 04 TL 123,000 miles without sending her to the bodyshop. It's not by luck, it's entirely by the decisions i've made on the road. I have even prevented a honda civic from crashing into my rear bumper because I simply looking into my rear view mirror and realized it was moving entirely too fast. I was able to move the car just out of the way from being hit, and the civic driver brazed the bumper.
Follow these tips, and you will not have to post more pictures like the ones above ever again.

man this month i have 3 near misses of rear ending someone, luckily my good brakes and my quick reaction make me come within inches of rear ending folks.....stupid constructions and people stopping suddenly...anyways just let insurance fix it, pay deductible...and enjoy your car again...wats done is done...

Glad you are OK.
Here is a trick you can try out and see of you like it.
Whenever your eyes leave the road in front of you (hey, it happens...), cover the brake pedal with your foot. Don't press on the pedal, don't even touch the pedal, just cover the pedal with your foot. When you look back onto the road, move your foot back to the accelerator.
This saves about a full second in reaction time if something comes up in front if you that you need to brake for.

I will be surprised if your ins company keeps you around depending on who you have.
I have Allstate and they are great. When i was younger i racked up like 12 points and never got an increase because they only check if you fill a claim. I got in two accidents and convinced both drivers to take cash and not go through insurance. it was steep upfront but a lot cheaper in the long run.
Now i am in sales
Sooner or later i had to make a choice to stop driving like and asshole though, now i haven't gotten a ticket, for anything, in almost 4 years and have no points.
Its just a car dude, don't wish you were dead because you crashed a car you loved...What you need to do is pay your dad another 2400 so that he doesnt have any leverage if you really wanna keep it. I say you might as well, youll be paying for it in insurance no matter what car you're driving.
Good luck though

i knew this was going to happen. any post about a young driver is just a ticking time bomb waiting to go off. ill say how it went so its clear:
went to dealership, would not get approved due to lack of credit.
went back and got it under dads name, paid half of the 4800(just to make an easy figure), so i paid 2400.
when the bill comes, i gave him cash. i wouldnt nickel and dime him saying i dont have the money. i do have the money to support my habits(the car, driving, partying, living)
and i did accept blame...obviously i fucked up, i mean yeah i could of waited behind the other driver untill it was completely clear, which wouldnt of happen, or did what i did. i know everyone does it, turns their head for a split second then looks back, i have done it millions of times and got lucky by nothing happening, its just this one time... and its not too much car, i accelerated normally, its not like i pulled a toyko drift turn with tires spinning...come on man

just a quick comment, having the car in your dads name cause he has better credit could work against him if you're in a bad accident. your liability suddenly becomes his, and if it goes above your insurance coverage (which medical quickly can), then he would be the financial target. My 1st car was in my dads name till i turned 21 (when the "inexperienced driver surcharge" was dropped on my name), but then i realized i had put him at risk all that time just to avoid those fees. If the car's in your name and they go after you, i'm guessing you have less to lose than your dad would (just assuming here). something to think about anyway. good luck with your repair...dealing with insurance is never easy ( i was without a car for 3 months while i battled my insurance company when my 1st car died).
