Cracked Dash--Honda blows, but Toyota will fix
My wife has 07 Toyota sienna. A few days ago she received a letter from toyota that it would repair crack dash boards regardless of mileage or date of first use of vehicle. Owners have until 5-31-17 to request repair.
It is time for honda to do the same. If requested I will post a copy of Toyota's letter.

Honda should own up to this shit. Walk up to any 3G in a parking lot and I guarantee the dash will be cracked. It's not just a few people who complained online who have this problem.
Has the Consumerist (Consumer's Union/Consumer Reports' blogging arm) written about this yet? We should bring it to their attention. That can gain traction sometimes as other news sites link the story (Think Jalopnik, reddit, etc).

my dash crack started about a year ago; I am the original owner so I can attest that this car is out of the sun for about 80% of its life.
my wife's sienna does not have a crack but is outside all the time
I only posted this issue to bring to light how other manufacturers handle the same issue. Honda politely told me to bugger off about 8 months ago when I called regarding the cracked dash. Now, armed with a letter from Toyota perhaps they will change their mind--unlikely, but i don't mind a little corporate confrontation.

My wife got the same letter (presumably) last year for her Lexus ES350. I traded my 04 TL after six years and no cracks. My 08 TL-S has no crack as of today.

I have an Acura, Honda Lexus and Toyota. The Lexus/Toyota is hands down better for warranty and repair experience, not even close. I think there are way more Honda claims than Toyota and they still will not ante up. weak

Mine just started cracking last week. I was so pissed when my girlfriend was like "woah whats this?" I didnt even have to look lol. "Oh yeah that happens after a while.
2004 6mt with about 144,000 miles. When I bought it I noticed the line forming there and figured it would give eventually. I think it finally gave because I moved to a new place and to get in and out there is a slope on one side and it probably bends the chassis when going over it, so it finally just gave. Or it was just it's time. Hoping it doesnt get worse, but not putting any faith in it.

My shit is cracked all over the place. I purchased a mint dash from an 08. trying to get my Acura dealership to replace it for free. at most I would have to pay $350 labor costs which is not too bad

Never owned a Toyota vehicle, but we got a Lexus in the family. I take it in from time to time and their customer service is insanely good. They really do prioritize their customers.
Recently the service adviser I used to bring the Lexus to was promoted to Manager of the service department. I guess he saw my name in the appointment list (under a different service adviser) and he had changed it to his own name to provide the service. I was greeted by him as soon as I walked through the door and he made sure I was out of there within the hour (was light work).
You pay quite a bit more for a Lexus versus our Acuras, but you definitely get better customer service experience.
Oh yeah and the used 08 I used to have never had any signs of cracks on the dash. I've heard people have gone through multiple visits, phone calls, and quite a bit of their time to get their dash replaced for free or even at a discounted price.

I'm curious to know- what does Lexus charge as their shop rate, per hour, versus Acura?
I have a hard time believing that the price of the car, new, dictates the type of service after, unless each and every Lexus dealership has a certain markup on every single new car they sell. I've always thought that when a dealership sells a new car, 95% of the revenue goes back to the parent company and maybe 5% goes to the dealer. Dealerships make very little on new car sales. Their bread and butter, in terms of profit, come from used car sales, service and parts.
So does each and every Lexus dealer charge more for a new car, in order to provide more in customer service later on? If that's the case, what happens when I buy a Lexus from Dealer A and service it at Dealer B? Or is it simply reflected in the shop rate they charge?

Crack is whack guys.
Im sure Lexus dealers just charge more. Our BMW dealer charges more than twice as much for just an oil change! $130 vs $45. But the acura dealer sells crack so now you know why our cars are so much cheaper. Crack(s).
