couldn't be more stupid

I changed brake pads today and had my most stupid job done.

I have to blame the mother nature. it's been producing so much pollen these days that my immune system can't stand it. have to take drugs, and the drugs are having some weird effects on me.

long story short, here's the baddest part:

I took off pads on both sides, then finished driver's side installation and started bleeding this wheel. fluid came out slow but reservoir level dropped fast. I kept wondering where the fluid went but kept pumping, and pumping...
I stopped to have some water and saw a big puddle of fluid under the other wheel and thought, gosh, I must have used a whole bottle of brake dust cleaner on it! and went back on pumping, and pumping...

so it turned out as I hanged the other caliper there was nothing to stop the piston getting pushed out by the fluid.

those drugs surely make you think slooooooooooooow.

BTW, I feel even more stupid when I found out my factory pads could last another 50k or so miles... I was too lazy to check before I ordered new pads.

stuff happens, we all learn from our mistakes. have fun with your new brakes! BTW consider taking some allergy medication, it helps out a lot!

Don't feel too bad, I've done some stupid things when working on cars, and I don't have the medication to blame.

LOL. I needed that laugh. Good way to start off a beatiful weekend coming up. It happens to everyone. Reason why it's funny after the fact.

Not laughing AT you, but laughing WITH you.

That is exactly the kind of bone-headed thing I'd do. And I wouldn't even need meds to help do it.

I've been a bone head and left the master cylinder top open while pushing in a piston.. was like hmm.. that didn't take much.. good thing it didn't shoot up or get on my paint.. what a pain to clean up though.

Damn.. I went in with localized swelling from a bee sting.. My whole right hand was swollen.. picture Eddie Murphy in the Nutty Prof.. You remember when he gets in the Viper and his hand explodes like the Michelin man.. Anyways they shot me some benadryl.. whoa.. night night.. I passed out while talking to the doctor. I take Claritin / Generic Claritin.. it works wonders.. If it's allergy related congestion I take nasonex.. quick response but short relief.
