Could Ur Moleskin Be Doing This....

Ok, So I had my tint done @ FX Auto last month. Got F1 pinnacle 35% all around ....with the moleskin of course.

Came back to Ottawa and noticed my driver door window made a screeching noise going up and down when wet. I took it to the dealer and they ordered another rain guard for me (the black strip on the outside of the window)

Got my car back and washed my car, again noise still there ...not to mention window stays wet after a day whenever I put it down.

So not only is my window making a schreeching noise...but it stays wet 1 or even 2 days following a wash when lowered.

I'm thinking there must be water being retained somewhere in the window.

My dealer says that it is the moleskin that's making the noise....so my question is, should I call them on that and take off the moleskin to see if they just can't fix it and are using that as an excuse??.....or leave the molskin...and keep taking it in. (which I have done twice already)

anybody else have this problem? thanks fellas.

do it yourself, its very easy to take the door apart, check and see if they installed the moleskin correctly.

vc123, I think they did tint it but to be sure, I'll check and get back to u on that.

However, it seems that they might not have installed the moleskin correctly...as previously stated by Dougler. I don't wanna make an 8 hour trip just for one window moleskin to be corrected...know what I mean.

Has anyone that went to FX have Bubbles...however tiny they might be, in certain places. I mean many in one particular area but not in others??? Lemme know guys.

On the original topic...doesn't seem like an isolated case to me.

Any other people have the same problem? and has anyone in the toronto area gone back to FX. I will be calling them this Monday to talk about this with the owner.

Mo_man, i got my windows tinted for a week and there are two small bubbles in the middle of the right front window. i am going to take it back and get it fixed sometimes next week.

btw my rear quarter window is tinted but they left the edge, they told me there is NO WAY they can tint it unless they take the panels off which they don't want to do .

Installed Moleskin Perfectly

Well after a week I now have about 1.5" of moleskin glue on the front of my drivers side window. It looks like its starting to come off. Maybe the 95 degree temps last weekend finally proved some of the cautions people have told me about Moleskin. OH WELL, I thought I would give it a try

I think I have a little extra piece, I guess the door panel is coming off again

I HOPE the other door don't start doing this shit

I know what ya mean. I had mined tinted 2 weeks ago and have not roll the windows down until today when I went to the drive through. As I rolled it back up I saw three 5-7" scratch lines on my tint . So i checked the mail and how nice did the moleskin came right in time, well a tad bit late. I put it on couple hours ago and have been winding it up and down like crazy(testing the mole). Smoth, quiet and no skraaaaatch !!

The moleskin needs to be pressed down firmly and "evenly". I missed a few spot(the sides)and the adhesive was exposed and it was sticking to my finger which could have stick to the windows if I havent meticulousy went over it again. So the installer could have been doing a halfass job, not scuffing the rubber, clean it w/ alcohol to promote better adhesion, and pressing it down tightly). But once it is pressed down tightly it is tough to come off. I tried peeling it off and it was kind hard.

When I installed the Moleskin I was SICK ANAL. I did it in a perfect 100% well lit garage. Set up a work table. NO DUST, I even dried the area being covered with Moleskin with a hair dryer after cleaning with rubbing alcohol so the rubber was very dry and warm just b4 putting the Moleskin on perfectly. Then I squeezed it very firmly for several minutes. I know it couldn't of been done any better. Fuckin SUCKS. Every mod I have done some SHIT like this happens. BULLSHIT I SAY.

AND I put on the Moleskin AFTER MY tint was installed and GUARANTEED NOT to scratch!!! PERIOD. WELL IT DID. Now this so called BEST Moleskin is coming off like many tint shops told me it would!!!!!

i didnt use any mole skin on mine..i been seeing a lot of threads with the same problems..when i had my windows tinted the guy who did it simply just cut out the inner rubber seal and i havent had any problems since..no noise or rattle, no scratching or peeling..and also thats pure BS if they tell you they cant tint the rear quater panels all the way and need to remove them to tint them because i had mine done without them being removed and they look awesome..i have some pictures posted here..https://acurazine.com/forums/showthread.php?t=162566

as i was watchin the guy who tinted mine what he did was measure the outside of the window first with how much flim he was gona need and then left about id say like 1/4 or 1/2 inch extra on the end that was gona go into the rear panel..then what he did was as he applied the tint..he slowly pushed it in between the seal til the whole edge was covered then went back to the other side and cut any excess tint off that wasnt needed and that was basically it..took him an extra 10 min then all the other windows but got the job done right..if they tell you they cant or dont know how to tint the rear quater panels..go to another shop..mostly likely means there either to lazy and jus want your money..or they jus flat out dont kno what their doing

The moleskin goes on the inside; IIRC there is felt on the outside, but since the tint is on the inside that doesn't do much good.
