The Cost of the NAVI updates?
I have a 04 Black/Ebony 5AT w/Navi, and i was wonderin if anyone has any cheaper ways to get the Navi updates? I was told that yearly update costs around $160 thru alpine. please let know if anyone else has any suggestion on getting the price a little lower?

I called two months ago... They said no update.
For Data, 1.03 and 1.04 are identical. For software, I don't know.
Acura Navi DVD center: 888-549-3798

I thought I read either in the manual or somewhere else that updates are usually given in the Fall. I don't know if it's that strict a release schedule or not though.

Ya, My Dealer also told me that the software gets updates every fall, and was stating that i should have the newest version, but my navi maps does not even have some of the roads that have been built for a year now(Hwy 264 in NC). I would like to get new updated version, but don't feel like dishin out 160 dollars, esp. when i paid 40,000 + for a new car. At least they could do is have an updated version of the software for me.

I haven't put in one address the navi couldn't find and this is the first year in Canada. They pretty much got it right first time around at least for my puropses.

An annual update for around $160 (honda web site) is money I'd rather spend else where. Maby update after 5 years would make sense unless your town / city is growing rapidly. The population explosion is a problem I have to face so I may have to upgrade sooner. A cheaper DVD would be nice. Sorry, no help here.

I had a 2002 type S the navi update never showed up. The new navi9 system on various acura models (the big screen one) is obviously an update but I dont know if it is back compatible with the old system. If I were you I wouldn't hold my breath!

Noticed that there is a "PC Card" slot on the head unit with nothing in it. Wonder what it is there for? Could it be a way to augment the NAVI WITHOUT having to buy a new update? Hmmm...May have to play with this some. Anyone else already investigate this? In regards to v3.30F...Can anyone spell ...torrents?

It's good to know Alpine has this website for Acura's Navigation system.
However, could anyone explain to me what "version 3.30F" means? Is it the model writer#?
Thanks.

It's the version number of the DVD navigation software and map info, very similar to a version number for a piece of software you install and run on your computer. It's stamped on the DVD that's in the car.

Database Version: 20030902 (which to me, reads like a date, 9/2/03)
Software Version: 1.0400
If this post is correct, why would different software and map version numbers be posted on the DVD than from within the system itself? Does any one know the values returned when read from the newer DVD?

I've had my car for a week and hald already run into several places that weren't on the NAV.
US 264 extention, the new 85 bypass in Greensboro, my sisters neighborhood that's been there for 7 years so far, the 2nd half my neighborhood, and more.
* However, most of those place are under a year or so old... only one that's over a year to 1.5 years would be my sisters neighborhood.
I wonder if there's a way to demo the CD before you by it (like go on their site and type in an address to see if it comes up).
$10 says that an ISO of the CD will be floating around on the internet soon after it comes out. heh

Open up your trunk and take a look. On the right side of the trunk floor, right below the tail light, you'll find an elevated area about the size of a CD changer with an access door facing left. Flip the door open from the bottom and you'll see where the DVD loads into the navi unit.

Great, I'm taking delivery of my new WDP/Parchment/Navi/5AT
at the end of March. I guess that means I'll have the older
3.0 version and have to upgrade right away. I'll tell my salesguy I want the 3.03 version as part of the deal.
