Corosion(sp?) protection.

I apologize if this is already posted but in Automotive Club the instructor told as he paints used motor oil on the bottems of his car. He showed us areas he put it on and areas he didnt. Some of his cars are over 12 years old and have no corrosion on the areas he painted it on. Just thought I'd let people know. Cheap protection.

Hard to believe that painting oil on metal would last for 12 years. It's not like undercoating which is sprayed on and sticks to the metal. But modern cars have corrosion protection applied at the factory, and the materials used now are more resistant to corrosion.

You won't have to type (sp?) anymore if you click here

I guess I didn't give you a very good reference, because it doesn't have "karictoar" in it. Must be an old dictionary.

And why did your teacher just paint the oil on some areas, and not the entire underbody of the car? So he could show his students? It takes a dedicated teacher to sacrifice parts of his car so he has an example to show his students.

No, just what was convient. He did it on his beaters too, HE has some other stuff like an El Camino which he only takes out on nice clear days in the spring and summer. Ill ask him why he didnt paint the entire thing.
