Considering selling my TSX CU2 and get 3rd Gen TL-S. Thoughts?

Hi guys,
I have 2010 TSX CU2 2.4 AT Euro. Bought it new, almost 4 years old now. No issues. Except one - for me, it feels underpowered - even worse with our AT that slows the car a bit. The other things I hate is that steering has NO feedback what so ever, and the car is not very stable in high speeds. (I am driving on unresticted autobahns).

I am thinking about something new in the pricerange 15-20k. And I am thinking about 2007-2008 TL Type-S 6MT with A-spec goodies.

TL-S should be more fun, better noise, brakes, LSD (yay!). Hopefully more planted on a road. Also it has hydraulic steering, so I am hoping for more feedback (is it?). I have never drove it. I am little conserned about comfort, seats (looks unsupportive on pics) and reliability.

The main question is - did anybody swap this, or thought about this? Anybody had driven both cars?

BTW I can also go Accord Coupe V6, but no Brembos, no LSD and the back of the car looks bulky like all sedans converted to a coupe.

Thank you for any input. I would appreciate inputs from people who really driven both cars, I can read the specs. Again, thanks.

The Autobahn and Hondas go together like Michael Moore and GW Bush. Break the budget a little and spring for a used 335 or 135, or maybe even an e46 M3. I don't care how well a properly set up TL handles at the limit (and they can pull respectable g's), they just never feel right doing it. And they'll never instill heaps of driver confidence in the curves at 100+.

Thanks man for the input. I think that there is a lot of truth in your message. I considered Z370/G37 but these cars are so ugly to me that I couldn't stand it. So I guess the only other choice is BMW. In a perfect world I would like to have RWD of course. Maybe 330i is a way to go, because I want a NA engine. ///M cars are out of my budget, sadly.

I have had a TSX loaner before and to me any 4cyl just feels and sounds weak. In that perspective a Type S 6mt should make you very happy. Handling is decent but it's still a FWD sedan so it's not going to be out of this world, but it's good. Seats are ok, but I have sat in more comfortable and supportive seats. The Type S 6mt and 5at are extremely reliable cars!

I have a 2006 6MT base (3.2L) TL and I've driven a 2011 5AT 2.4L TSX quite a bit. Here's my experiences with the two:

Power: Obviously the TL is faster and feels more powerful. The difference is most noticable in the low end of the rev range, where the TL has a lot more punch. The TSX has adequate power, but it always feels like you have to wring it out to get to it. The TL always feels like there's plenty of power to spare, regardless of RPMs.

Steering: IMO the TSX actually has better steering feel, but the steering weight feels more natural in the TL. The TSX's steering can often feel artificially light at low speeds yet overly heavy at high speeds. I'm assuming that this is because the TSX's electric power steering is programmed for a wide range of assist levels. The TL's hydraulic power steering on the other hand, seems to provide about the same level of assist at all speeds, and IMO this feels more natural. I also like that the TL's steering is lighter at high speed because it makes the TL a lot less tiring to drive on the highway.

Handling: This is hard to judge. My TL handles better than the TSX, but that probably has a lot to do with the fact that I'm on performance tires and have the A-Spec suspension. The TSX is stock with all-seasons. One thing to note is that IMO the TL feels noticeably heavier in the nose than the TSX does.

Braking: The TL is better (mine has the Brembos). Actual stopping distances seem about the same, but the Brembos have a lot better initial bite and they have a lot less fade. Both of those are probably big pluses if you're using the car on the autobahn.

Top Speed: I've never had the TSX over 105 or so. It really feels like it hits a wall when you go into 4th gear. I've had my TL up to 140 and it felt like it still had another 10-15mph in it. It felt fine, but again, I think a lot of that has to do with the suspension.

Other notes: The TL has a noticeably bigger back seat. TL has better headlights. It has bi-xenons (the same xenon bulb is used for high and low beams), while the TSX only uses the xenon bulb for the lows and has a separate halogen bulb for the highs, which is an inferior setup IMO.

That's about it. I hope that helps.

First off you know TL-S isn't sold in europe right? You'd have to import it. You probably know that but I'm just double checking.
It's not any quieter than the tsx. both are about equal. I think I read one review where they measured the decibels and tsx was quieter marginally by like 1 db, but thats negligible in real life. Both are going to be similar since they are both based off accords(albeit different generation accords). Seats will feel similar, TL-S seats look more sporty but in terms of how much it holds you, its probably no diff than a tsx. You'll love the steering though. It's no BMW but it's much more direct than the tsx steering.

Honestly the 2nd gen tsx is one of my favorite cars still, I've even said before if I ever sell my car I would want the tsx. But people always told me it's a bad move, and my friend with a 2nd gen tsx said he rather have the TL-S lol

Thank you guys for your opinions. Yes, I have to import the car, no Acuras here.

I am also thinking, there is probably a different setup on TSX vs Accord EURO steering, because mine is very heavy all the time and with no and I really mean almost NO feedback. There is even a different steering in a versions with active cruise control I heard, which I don't have.

If you can find the right Type S at the right price, pull the trigger.

Just be prepared to be patient in your search.
