Confused about body kits...help?

Hello all,

I apologize for my ignorance right off the bat, but I am a bit confused. I hear terms like A-Spec Kit, OEM body kit, Type-S front\rear lip, etc...

So what's the difference. Aside from Ron Jon and some of those eBay kits, the only 2 lips that I've really seen are the 2 pictures below.

ST04Louis and Minkl81, I hope you don't mind that I used you both as an example, but this pic is a PERFECT example:

So left front lip vs. right front lip...what is each one called?

In the next one, this looks like it goes over the front bumper.

And this next one looks like it tacks onto the bottom:

And as far as the rear and sides go, is there any difference between the 2 (of course Base and TL-s have different cut outs for exhaust)

Thanks in advance for your help. I've tried to make sense of it via Acurazine search, google search, and lots of reading, but I"m confused

I believe the diff is the one on the left is Type-S and the right is Base... both are A-Spec or OEM body kits, its the same.

Not a dumb question at all my friend. In the pictures you posted above, those are BOTH factory OEM body kits from Acura; the OEM body kit IS the A-Spec Body Kit. As for the type S body kit - it's a tad bit different. The newer Type S models have a different fitment for the front, side and rear lips. Hence, we all call them the "Type S" bumper/rear/side skirt lip kits. St.Louis, in the picture above, has I believe an 04 TL - A-Spec Body kit. Minkle has the 3g Type S, hence has the factory, a-spec body kit for his Type S. Both are interchangeable though: a few members have actually swapped "base" a-spec body kits out for the type s a-spec kit. The fitment, I believe, is similar; I think the sides are similar if the not the same for the base and type s model. The front end, as you already mentioned is a tad different - molded to the type s front bumper. As for the rear end, the Type S has a quad setup - the rear lip exit for the exhaust on the Type S bumper is wider. St. Louis has the Type S bumper to fit his ATLP Quads hope that helps man.

Thanks again!

Furnuture is over-rated. I mean who decided it was all that great? I bet if you save all the boxes from your various mods, you could build a small computer desk and a kitchenette.

It can be done but I think it requires modifications... I remembering reading that in another post.

Needs modification since the fog light housing of the Type-S is design slanted inward. But the TLS front lip will fit over an 08 base and TLS with no modification since it is like a mask over the front bumper.

I have a TL-s but like the base kit so much more. I wonder how much work is involved in modding it? and how much it would cost to have it sprayed when it was done?

Sorry to jack your thread, but I was wondering if there is a way to use the Type-S front kit along with the Aspec front lip? Reason is, I have an 04, and the Type-S looks great and has the cutouts for the fogs, but I like how the Aspec hangs down more on the sides. Any Ideas?
