Complete Sentence: With the amount of money I spent on my Acura....

With the amount of money I spent on my Acura, I can buy a <insert car here>

I think we sometimes think about this, as we put down more money for our mods. With all that money, I could have bought this instead...

With the amount of money i spent on my Acura, I can buy a 2008 Lexus ISF with 40K miles.

There is definitely a law of dimensioning return going on with the TL or any car for that matter. For me personally, I have a hard time spending much more than 1K on personalizing my car for the reasons stated above. Pretty soon you could just buy a car that will outperform what you have and also be 100% covered by a factory warranty. It's pretty hard to beat a factory with its scales of economy.

Then you will be just like all other people out there with the same mass produced car. I would rather spend 40k on an put some money into it because NO car out there has what I want, except a FERRARI but thats a whole other story. BTW warrantee doesn't mean anything as I see dealers pulling crap like "car was raced", "you put an intake so your engine blew" and people believe them and pay the fee. You can put 20K into your car and still have it covered, and they have to PROVE that the part did the damage.

With the amount of money I spent on my Acura... I technically didn't spend anything on both of my cars. Only thing I bought was the Meisterschaft GT Exhaust.

That is true, I think unique customization can give it's own reasons. But only up to a certain point.

Sorry, I haven't done anything but buy tires for mine . . . yet.

I would write it this way. With the money I save on fuel alone with the TLS over my Audi, I can afford to eat out twice each week every month. With the additional money I have saved on maintenance (Oil change, break downs, although minor) I can afford to spend a weekend at the beach each month.

^^ Lucky you, all I got for graduation was maybe a couple hundred dollars from relatives.

I haven't spent much money on my TL-S, but with the money I spent between my old WRX and STi I could have bought a slightly used C6 Z06! Urgh...

Yeah, I'm pretty spoiled, I admit it. Although, some people has mention before... Only child + Parents making bank = higher budget in terms of what you want or get. I guess that applies to me, but to be fair, I just call myself spoiled. No hiding it!

Just putting it out there. I do pay for my own gas, food, and etc... Even the Meisterschaft GT Exhaust is out of my pocket. I had this fairly nice summer job that pays really well, and I still work part time at Forever 21 (No, I'm not gay.) Lol.

Do you usually feel you actually own the car? I'd be ashamed to say my parents bought it for me after i smoke someone on the road you know. I'd be happier standing next to my car if I bought it myself.

But then again, I'm self concious... no one need to know right? but then again, anyone can get the common sense that you wouldn't have bought it yourself. How do you deal with that in public? The SHAME!!!

If you parents are successful then why should that matter? Live life, its short..

Also it all depends on if he did the willy wonka " BUT DADDDDDDY I WANNNNNNNT AN M3" or he earned it and respects the fact that he is well off.

Shit..... If my parents were loaded, I'd live it up. But my viewpoint may not be the same growing up as I did, respecting and appreciating everything you have.

Anyway, back on topic.
I'd could have gotten a CTS-V and called it a day.

You know what my parents gave me as my first car? An old rusted 89 Toyota Pick Up we bought off of the guy who farms our land for like $500. I loved that truck!!! I didn't exactly have an underprivileged childhood though so I really can't say much. No student loans for the win.
