Color Question

Ok, so I bought a certified pre-owned 2008 TL last week. It’s a sweet car that was only used as a loaner by my dealership. It’s near mint.

It’s listed on the sticker and in the dealer records as Nighthawk Black Pearl. But, while washing it on Sat, I noticed tiny blue speckles in the paint finish. They are only noticeable in the direct sunlight reflection. The car does not look blue at all. It definitely looks black, even when you hold something black up against it, but it seems weird that the black pearl would have blue speckles in the paint.

I’d be curious to hear from any other 08 TL owners with a Black Pearl or Blue Pearl finish as to which color I’ve actually got.

What you see is normal. The NBP does have blue in it i.e. that's what all the NBP owners have said on this site.

the only time i have ever been pulled over in my TL was like a year or so ago, it was later in the day so the sun was at that perfect height to see sparkle, and the cop actually called my car "dark blue"...i was impressed that he noticed. but i was still pissed that he caught me speeding

i love the blue, but it is one of the reasons i dont think black rims look good with it....it just doesnt look right.

I have an NBP its normal. Thats where the pearl comes from bro. Cool isn't it. Thats why we have the best color on the streets. Keep it clean though. Keep polish handy for the swirl marks and enjoy.

Awesome. Well, that satisfies my curiosity.

Ok, here's my other newbie question. The blue tint to the side mirrors, is it a scratch film that should be peeled off, or is it intentional to serve some purpose?
