Color Decisions: Need advice

Color Decisions: Need advice
Hi, so it seems my dealership was not able to locate a 2008 TL-S 6speed in anything but Silver or Red with Ebony/Silver interior in the Midwest. They were able to locate White/Black/Carbon in other regions but would cost $1.2k+ to ship. So I'm down to those 2 colors, from my preference not seeing these cars in person is why I can't decide. The silver in pictures look bland to me, just a regular TL and the red looks too flashy.
Any recommendations? I've seen multiple photos on this forums but the silver doesn't impress me and i'm trying to avoid the red due to what i hear in the longterm red paint in general likes to fade. Any opinions?
Thanks.

I think the Red is hot! It was my second choice to carbon bronze. I have owned 2 red cars in the past, and I dont think paint fade will be an issue so long as you take care of it....

yea silver for sure...... but you def came to the wrong place for color advice....everyone here will start screamin WDP or NBP!!! lol we'll see how its goes in a few days

Well, it depends if you are planning on modding a lot, like a body kit and rims, I would def. go with Silver.
If you want to be unique and subtle, red.
Or best of both worlds WDP

Use Direct Transport. Largest transport company with reviews, and they have follow-up's. Shipping from Mid-East coast to SoCal would've cost me 775.00 flat. I'm sure if your shipping from West or East to Mid it'll cost you like 400-500 dollars.
Do not. I repeat, DO NOT use DAS (Dependable Auto Shippers) should you choose to ship a car.

My TL can do this, too!

I have Carbon Bronze Pearl with Ebony interior and I love it. The stock wheels look great on the car since they are pretty much the same color. I have not seen many in this color where I live.

Full of water...
if those are your only two choice, go red. there are WAY too many silver TLs out there, and every time i see a red one i am really impressed. i wouldnt say its too flashy either, for a red it is very nice and if you treat her likes she deserves, i dont see any issue with fading.
and i think the TL-S only looks REALLY good in a few colors, and red is one of them.

If you're not absolutely happy with the two color choices (and it sounds like you're not) then don't spend ~$35k for something you'd rather not have. Have you settled on a price with your local dealer? Given him a down payment? If not then go to the www.acura.com and search for a dealer by typing in zip codes for various large cities. Call several out of town dealers and tell them what you want, price you want to pay, etc. This is always a good idea because you can usually get exactly what you want at a lower price. The difference in price < cost of plane ticket to dealer. As part of the deal explain that you're coming from out of twn and need the car to be ready on a target date and you'd appreciate a ride from the airport to the dealer. The result is you get the car you want in the color you want and you also get to spend some quality time with your new purchase on the trip back home. Other posters on here have done this, as have I, and it's worked out fine. Good luck and enjoy your new Acura.

I have no problem traveling to pick up a car with the exact color combo I want but then again I'm not sure if the cost of the ticket + drive home is worth it along with any chips to the car driving it on the highway or driving at an accelerated speed for an extended time for a unbroken in car.

I would go red if you don't mind the extra attention. I agree that silver can get lost in a crowd. But, what about that WDP? The shipping cost sounds expensive, but have you considered flying out to that dealer and driving back? How far is that white car from you?

Of course, that doesn't help the thread starter. I'd probably go red...maybe silver though.

IMHO- spend the extra $$ and get the color that YOU really want.

That being said... If you only have two colors to chose from, I say silver!

I ordered my car in Kinetic blue but wound up taking a silver because of the delivery time. I don't regret it.
The silver looks sharp - it stays clean (I almost bought a Black Type S until I pulled up next to one after a storm - yech) and it's subtle.
Some people want the boy racer loud color (I did) but I've blown by a LOT of cops going over the posted limit and every time the cops pulled out they've gone after the car next to me that was doing the same speed (usually black).
The silver also probably has the most resale appeal. Lots of people will want to buy a silver car but not so many are going to want the red. I saw a red Type S yesterday and it just doesn't look right on the car. The silver really accents the dark trim bits too.
But like they said - if YOU don't like it then don't get it. After all the rock chips I've gotten I'm very happy they don't show up very well on the silver.

I wanted to give everyone an update. I am very happy to say i'm a fellow member now. I picked up a 2008 NBP TL-S 6speed this past weekend for $33.8k before TTL and with 4.9% financing. I will get pics up ASAP when the string of rain ends...
There was a long debate on the limited color selection/manual transmission in the midwest region so it was between ASM and MRP but they were able to locate a NBP and I jumped on it. I admit it was a hard decision between ASM and NBP. Anyways I love the car and can't wait till I break in the engine. I'm going to assume 1k miles is enough of a break in period?
What I regret on the purchase is that I took the lifetime oil change purchase which from what I've read now that you don't need to change oil every 3k miles/3months on this car so I won't really see returns on that $540 I paid for it until further down the road.

Well welcome to the forum!
What you should have done is pick your own color but asked us about the oil change option.

IMO Moroccan Red Pearl is the bastard color to the Redondo Red Pearl. That's the only reason I didn't buy a TLS I wanted the Redondo Red. It is " an awesome color for the car". Moroccan looks too orangy

but IMO MRP with 15% tinted windows would be pretty sexy
