Coldweather tips
Coldweather tips
So I thought we might have a thread where folks can share their tips on dealing with winter weather:
1. The greatest snow tires in the world wont help you if you're lowered and manage to beach yourself onto a bank of snow and your wheels spin futilely. Watch out for turns into communities where plows deposit all their crud.
2. If you DO beach yourself (dumbass
), our cars have a tow hook in the back. let the person who needs to tow you out know about it so they dont try to loop it around your axle or something.
3. Be sure your antifreeze and washer fluid are topped off. try not to confuse the 2.
4. slow and steady. Whether you're stuck and trying to get out, or moving through the road and see a particularly big patch of snow. The worst thing you can do is gun it or slam the brakes. Either you'll dig urself into a bigger shithole or you end up skidding and/or cause traffic behind you to plow into you, skid out themselves, create a backup etc.
5. keep a shovel in your trunk. Kitty litter or sand might not be a bad idea either.

Move to Florida......
Seriously, keep a blanket and first aid kit in the car. You may get snowed in.
Perhaps some type of nonperishable food and water.
Engine heater for easier starting?
When it's going to freeze outside, I throw a towel over the windshield. That way, in the morning, I just remove the towel and my windshild is clear. I guess the same would work for snow.

Leave it in the garage and take another ride. Hell, I couldn't get mine out of the garage the last few days. There's 5-6" of ice/snow/ice on the driveway. The trusty ol' Blazer's been getting around fine, though.
