cold air intake system

Just purchased my tl and pretty excited considering my last car was a 93 honda civic hahaha. Well anyway just tinted my car and now i want a cold air intake system that will make my baby roar. I know aem still doesnt have the 08s in production and was wondering if the 07s work for my 08 or maybe something else. let me know your recommendations plz.

The '07 TL and '08 TL are identical. Same intake system, same powerplant. Hence, yes, the AEM CAI will fit perfectly in your car. I personally prefer the AEM over all other companies, but they're basically the same thing.

1. AEM
2. Fujita
3. Injen

Btw, congrats on your new car. Post some pics, and keep us updated with mods!

After hearing the AEM, the K&N seems quieter at low speeds until you want or need it. Just me.

Man, that's GOT to be dark in there. Do I see tickets in your future?

It is. I thought the car came with 70% - 75% tints from the manufacturer. What is that some kind of reverse tinting?

every car in the world has tempered windows..... tempered means plastic is fused to the glass thats why when u hit the windows to break them they spider web outwards and not completely shatter and fall in on u depending on how u hit it lol. because of the tempering process the windows come out slightly tinted letting 70% of light through. so in turn if u put a darker tint on and say its 20% your light throughput would be about 10%.....at first I didnt believe it and then I found out a good friends father worked at PPG Glass a few years back and he told me the "special" tint they put on the window through tempering is UV protection and some cars have a lot more or a lot less.

hahaha yea in my city it doesnt matter. they arent strict here. ive had my 93 civic limo tinted for 2 yrs and never have been pulled over. asked my neighbor whos a cop and she said they rarely pull someone over for that. and by 99% i meant like 1 % of light goes through lol. its limo tinting all around. Ill try to post a pic soon.

yea i think im gonna order the aem right now

If you let 1% light in that is like black paint. Limo tint is 5%, but since the windows are factory 70-75% I guess it could go down to 1%.

You'll soon discover IMO, that you really won't be saying that in short order.
Lower quality aluminum is the main culprit here. I 've read cases on this forum where the support brackets vibrate and break off.

Not sure why you would want to cut corners so drastically on your expensive TL.
You do get what you pay for sometimes

lol i love when people like you try to justify a pipe or an exhaust. Can you honestly look at the two and tell a difference. (maybe one has a sticker and more exspensive paint) The car is not a race car. So for daily use, an ebay intake is fine. Every vehicle in my lifetime i have chosen to save money with an ebay intake. Now other parts i will deff go with name brand or who has the best results. If you enjot paying 200 for the same exact product minus filter, (filter i could see) then so be it. Or if you were local i would love to sit down and see how the exact same pipe, design and all would benefit over having a sticker on it and better paint.

I went the same route you did when I had my '01 CL-S. It was on a week before I removed it, the "howl" was so great. I later bought a K&N for my '05 TL, and the difference just in weight was quite dramatic between the two. You could hold each one in your hands and compare.
The K&N is nearly silent until I want the power, and then you know it's not stock.
The e-bay site that you posted says "aluminum". The K&N, Fujita, etc. calls out the grade aluminum.
If you think all these suppliers and mfrs. are ripping you off by charging $250+ for theirs, so be it. Just thought you might want some friendly advice from someone who has been where you are.
Time will tell, it's not my car

and you could save some money and have some extra $$$ to replace evrything in leds. I just always think you shold save money on an intake or exhaust. Take care all.

Actually you can. I actually have a few cheap intake kit here for the 04+ TL and an AEM here. The aluminum on the cheap intake is thinner and easier to bend/warp. There was missing hardware, the piping size is smaller, and there is no R&D behind it. The tabs generally break too on these cheap intakes resulting in a hole in your intake. However, if you want one I have them for $95 shipped and it comes with a K&N filter. I however recommend the AEM. It's a better product.
