Cnet Review of 2008 TL-S
Below is a video link to the review. Take it for what it is worth. Personally, I am not sure if CNet should be in the business of reviewing cars. However, I think they are okay in reviewing electronics, such as computers and HDTVs.

Yeah, sounded like he had more than a few negative comments about the Type S : antiquated navi, uesless tape deck, disappointing clutch, embarrassing torque steer, horrible optioned tires .... blah, blah, blah.

That TOOL is the biggest DOUCHE!
WTF is he talking about?
"Drives like an 80's car before they new how to get pwr to the wheels?"
K Buddy go back to driving your camaro
When your ready to admit that the TL is the best car in its class and one of the best in the class above it, you can stick your HOLE HEAD in your ARSE! (yes HOLE)

well i can understand the ugly part...but they should only be applied to the wheels.
the TL is a large, very comfy, powerful, sporty, good-looking, great-handling, very affordable, extremely reliable luxury sports car with good resale value. it has ugly wheels. review over.

I'm about to purchase 08 type s, his review means nothing, I wonder what he drives.
But the cassette player feature is pretty outdated, nowadays new cars have usb flash and compact flash capability for mp3 playing.
But it's ok, I'll find a creative way to hide the cassette luxury

The Lincoln LS is out of production. you'd think he'd know that. But then again, you'd think he didn't know that. hell, I wrote a better review than him, and I can't even drive.

Wow, I'm going to get major flamage here, but I must say the review was pretty much spot on. I'll admit the guy's a major butt plug, but a lot of what he said was true. I don't agree with the whole torque steer thing, I think he exaggerated that a little bit, but the nav is silghtly outdated (yes, I know it's on its way out, and that it's 2004 technology), the cassette player thing is hilarious and looks funny on a car of its class.
On a side note, did you guys notice at 9 seconds (through 11 or 12 secs) that the car is moving forward, while the people in the background are moving backwards? what the hell was that all about?

Holy cow! The doctored/staged/misleading video adds a whole new level of credibility to this review.
It's not that some of his negatives weren't valid (except the torque steer thing, which for a FWD with almost 290 HP is really pretty minimal). It's the drama and exaggeration he uses when pointing them out.
Couple that with some of the idiocy (it comes with "big" wheels, the Navi is touch screen "part of the time" (the only time you *have* to use the joystick is moving the map and that's not required for navigaion) and doesn't know the spec on the Summer Tire). Then he spends all that time on the radio and Navi and doesn't once mention it's all accesable via voice command. Nor does he mention HFL, TPMS or ANC.
Really a half-assed job IMO - typical BS "reporting" - all sound bite, no substance.

i bet after he drives an NSX he will take back the comment on z rated tires.. "if you need them then why are you buying an Acura" comment.
The guy is definitely a tool with, like bear cat said, very biased reporting. I wonder if BMW paid him for this review.

That review could not have been more biased.

And you don't think this board is a little bias. Clam down guys, if everyone felt the same way you guys do about your TL, well, everyone would own one.

thank you calm down...lol I love it when people think their being the voice of reason.
so is that why I see about three a day here? no shit we are fans of the TL.
did you even watch the video? his first comment was retarded comparing it to a Lincoln. Im not against anybody bashing the car if its an honest review. There are things I would change, no doubt. Its not perfect and I dont claim it to be.
Do you think his review was spot on?

The only thing that i disagree w/ is his comments on the styling and like i said i can't speak to the nav comments cause i don't have it.
I agree w/ him on his cassette comments, the torque steer, and his comments about the tire upgrade option. I even somewhat agree about the clutch pedal feel.

The TL is a hard car not to like and he doesn't!
It's like he's trying to sell what ever car is next to the TL. He degrades the TL hoping to make the other car look better and it's obviously not an Acura.
He could be one of the presidential candidates!

I think the only thing I can agree with him on is the Navigation, I looked at my moms "new" 04 Accord and her navigation looks just the same but I guess next year hopefully it will get a makeover too, other than that this man is just too used to driving cars that just perform, hes never driven a car that really appeals to the eye.

LOL I searched TL-S couple days ago and saw this.
I thought that guy was an asshat!
He looks like a douchebag too! He's one of those people I'd slap and laugh at if I see him talking to me. LOL

But some of these comments are valid.
- Navi is not bad. Antiquated may not be a the right term. The newer Nissan?Infinity seem to have more featuresets. It beats the hell out of my buddies bmw 335ci. I-drive sucks.
- useless tape deck... concur. Any other cars come with tape decks these days? Can you buy cassettes at record stores anymore? Seriously... why do we have these?
- disappointed clutch. concur. Remember guys, when Acura upped the power for the TL-S, they added a restriction valve to slow the release of the clutch. This is to prevent you from supposedly chipping gears in the tranny under a clutch dropping launch... apparently, we are at the power limit of the 6MT. The result of this valve is a "slingshotty" clutch engagement. There's a couple of threads on it here. I figure this why the RL is only 5AT.
- Torque steer is known issue that Acura addressed with VSA, which cuts power in 1st 2nd... That's no fun. It sucks, but it's a FWD car and inevitable. Shoulda bought a Z if you wanna drift.
- Tires.... meh. Most of that is purely opinion. Buy tires based on your experiences.

This guy needs to find a plastic bag and put his head in it because by the way that he was talking about the car he doesn't know anybody that has one. If I ever saw him I would tell him to go to a dealer and drive one for a week and then drive one a competitor vehicle that is around the same price and then see what car is better and has more options.

Now all this being said, it obviously didn't sway your decision nor mine to buy one. We were willing to accept these shortcomings because we can either mod the car to address these issues, and if not we accepted them because the car more than makes up for its short comings in other areas.
