Climate Control on '04 Navi??

Hey everyone.. As I was test driving the '04 TL (since I'm in the market for it), I noticed that I couldn't control the temp/air conditioning/fan controls through the navi like I can in my '02 TL-S.. is this right? Can you only control the climate controls by using the buttons on the side of the navi screen? If this is true, that's a dissappointment!! I love controlling the climate control through my Navi now in my '02!

Actually, having owned a previous gen TL-S navi and now an 04, I prefer the 04 set up. You can set it to manual and adjust with quick button taps than messing with the screen, so your eyes stay on the road where they belong. All data and settings remain visible in the upper LED array at all times; no further need to look away from the road to mess with the screen again. IMO, they improved both the ergonomics and the safety factor in a single upgrade.

My understanding was that the A/C buttons were intentionally added by design.

Personally, I'm glad - If my Navi system dies, I can still run the Climate Controls through the buttons.

So far, everything I really need to do on my 04TL can be controlled through buttons/switches/knobs as a back-up. The various controls through the Navi system are nice, but not required.

Re: Climate Control on '04 Navi??...

I really prefer the current new setup for controls. You never need to interfere the Navi or radio when adjusting your system. Meanwhile, the LCD failure is not the problem for your climate control, either.

However, in the early promotion stage, I remembered Acura ever intended to put Navi-screen-control into 04TL, too. So you will have both contorls. But, it's never happened into the production lines. This might be one of the cost cuts, too.

I use both the buttons or you can use the "Voice Regcongiton" to turn on/off Climate Control, air conditions on/off, ask exact temperature you desire, fan speed-up or down,
window defrosters front and rear on/off. It's great...no button pushing needed.
