Clearing headlights

I want to clear my head lights but i read here on the forms some people couldn't pass inspection with it done. As it is illegal in there state. I live in ct does anyone know the laws on headlights? Would i pass inspection if i were to do it?

You'll be fine.
Just make sure you get LEDs to replace the turn signal bulb.
Otherwise you'll have a pale white colour (because the bulbs are actually clear and the orange diffuser is what gives the amber colour).

After I cleared my headlights, I got Switchback bulbs from Autolumination.com

It is technically illegal to change the Headlights because the design has to be approved for use by DOT.

HOWEVER, as long as you have the proper color turn signals/parking lights (amber and/or white - may vary by location) and proper reflectors (which again vary by state and are not necessarily required insided the headlight), you should pass most inspections.

Look at it this way: Hundreds, if not thousands, or enthusiasts have cooked their headlights open, modded them and only a few rare reports of an inspection issue. 99% of the time, you'll be fine.

Does anyone know of the cheapest clear diffuser inserts to get for headlights? I wanted to just buy the clear insert and put it in the headlight.

Not excited about the headlight baking though....

a sheet of florescent light covering found at Lowe's is fairly cheap.

not sure how this will look in the tl headlights but, for my rl, the final outcome is very close to the jdm version.

Some states require reflectors, these necessarily don't have to be "in" the headlights. When your going through inspection, throw a reflector in the bumper or on the side somewhere..Maybe reflective tape..

They look so much better with the clear, I've been trying to talk myself out of modding this car more since I have a project in the garage but I might have to get those diffusers and since I'm opening them up, some clear lenses and better D2S bulbs.

Be aware...something that is not posted..they don't fit flush..

They will need to be trimmed slowly until it fits "perfect" and then mounted/glued in because you will trim so much it will cut off the tabs..

not to scare you off, but its not going to be a simple plug and play.

Just out of curiousity Ack, are you using the diffuser from USR, leaving it out entirely, or something else?

Diffuser is easy to install, little sanding of the plastic and fits like a glove. i personally believe overall looks better than no diffuser
