Clear Bra Rate

I just got a clear bra rate and i don't know if its a good deal or not. Just for the front (18inches up on the hood, headlights and bumper), they quoted me $640. If i want to do the rear as well, its $740 total. Is this a good rate? Is the rear and the door side necessary? comments welcome. Thanks

Here in Miami, I paid $650 for exactly what you are getting. I also got my turn signals on my side mirrors tinted black. The rear of the car is not necessary at all. The clear bra is meant to protect teh front from rocks, bugs, and paint chips. Normally you don't get much of that on the back bumper but if you want to do it go for it. It always helps. Just maker sure you get it professionally installed. Its not something beginnings should try.

doing the rear bumper is for people who cant get shit out of their trunks without letting it hit the top part of the bumper...so it does serve a purpose for some...

3m tinted film, like the clear bra just alot thicker and tinted black, I asked my installer to add it on becuase he had it on his car and I though with the smoked out turn signals that white mirror signals didn't look rite.

I need to do this ASAP as various frequent weekend trips I take collect large amount of bugs on the front of the car. My only question is how noticable is it? Doesn't it leave a noticable seam where it stops on the hood?

I'll check out the dealer first. Otherwise, where else would I be able to get it done? Tint shop?

depends on the color of your car...white and silver cars will not show the seams, but dark cars ie black will...and from what my neighbor says, a wax line build up that just cant be dealt with....i would still do the clear bra, and i will on my next car....wish i had it now...

I think I am just going to go with the headlight protection part of the bra. Where is a good place to order them, and is the 3M scotchgaurd the best one to go with?

I dont understand why this is so expensive. Its the same type of install as tinting windows.. I think these prices are so inflated. Ne one know if I can get this 3M clear bra put on a RJ front end?

That's about what I paid in the Louisville area. The most difficult part was finding someone who knew what I was talking about--the dealer didn't. I have the impression that on both coasts and major metropolitan areas there are more installers and the price is lower because of competition. The material, in a kit, only costs about $200, and the rest is installation. There are threads in the 3G garage about doing it yourself, and X-Pel, for example

http://www.xpel.com/products/paint.asp

posts instructions. After reading everything I could get my hands on I decided that the installer probably earns his $300. I'm a member of the (I think select) DMM minority, and when the car is clean I have to look from certain angles to see the line at all on the hood and fenders. The mirrors are less successful; the film doesn't adapt as well to those tight curves and ruffling at the edges attracts some dirt. Nevertheless, I believe it was worth every cent.
