Clear Bra Rate
I just got a clear bra rate and i don't know if its a good deal or not. Just for the front (18inches up on the hood, headlights and bumper), they quoted me $640. If i want to do the rear as well, its $740 total. Is this a good rate? Is the rear and the door side necessary? comments welcome. Thanks

The clear bra is meant to protect teh front from rocks, bugs, and paint chips. Normally you don't get much of that on the back bumper but if you want to do it go for it. It always helps. Just maker sure you get it professionally installed. Its not something beginnings should try.

I need to do this ASAP as various frequent weekend trips I take collect large amount of bugs on the front of the car. My only question is how noticable is it? Doesn't it leave a noticable seam where it stops on the hood?
I'll check out the dealer first. Otherwise, where else would I be able to get it done? Tint shop?

I dont understand why this is so expensive. Its the same type of install as tinting windows.. I think these prices are so inflated. Ne one know if I can get this 3M clear bra put on a RJ front end?
That's about what I paid in the Louisville area. The most difficult part was finding someone who knew what I was talking about--the dealer didn't. I have the impression that on both coasts and major metropolitan areas there are more installers and the price is lower because of competition. The material, in a kit, only costs about $200, and the rest is installation. There are threads in the 3G garage about doing it yourself, and X-Pel, for example

posts instructions. After reading everything I could get my hands on I decided that the installer probably earns his $300. I'm a member of the (I think select) DMM minority, and when the car is clean I have to look from certain angles to see the line at all on the hood and fenders. The mirrors are less successful; the film doesn't adapt as well to those tight curves and ruffling at the edges attracts some dirt. Nevertheless, I believe it was worth every cent.
