Chip on Windshield

Well it happened....a car in front of me kicked up a rock and my car has it's first chip. But it's on the windshield! Its very small, about half the size of a pin head, but it's right in front of the driver seat and very noticable to me from inside the car.

Is there any way to fill this in so it's not as noticeable?

Check with a good glass shop. I know they can fix larger chips, where you can see a line, but I am not sure about one the size of a pin head. Most insurance companies will pay to have this minor repair done, before it gets big enough that they would have to pay for a new windshield.

I had a car with the same problem. The glass shop used a suction device to take out the air and inject a filler. I couldn't even tell where it was. Cost about $50 but you have to take it in fast as they can't do it after a certain amount of time I believe.

Unhappy

Be happy that it's only a chip... I had a rock hit my windshield two weeks after I got my TL. As luck would have it, we had a heat wave come through LA and now I've got cracks running the width of my windshield. Went to the dealer to get a new one put and I had to special order it. That one set me back $600+...

I had great luck repairing the windshield on my '00 Odyssey. Unless it has a large gouge, it should be repairable. Hurry before it cracks outward, though.

Check with your insurance company, many will pay for the glass repair without going against your deductable. They'd rather do this than replace a windshield which could potentially cost more.

My windshield made a humming sound while in a tight corner then when I gave it more gas POP nice 20” crack. Yep no glass shop has a replacement got to get it from the dealer.

Make sure you get a genuine Honda windshield. Last week just 2 days before I sold my TL-S to buy a '04 TL, a SUV threw a rock into my windshield. I went to a glass replacement shop, and they told me an aftermarket windshield would be identical. Well, it's not, and if I had been keeping the car, I would have taken it back for a Honda Windshield. The area around the rear view mirror where the dots are painted on the glass just looks horrible. It looks like a 5 year old child painted the dots on the glass, they are big and very crude. Just not as good as the factory glass IMHO>
