I received my headlights today after a bit of trouble with UPS. They are really nice and im goona LOVE being able to have those awesome diffusers along with my HID fogs
Further on tho....
I also took a trip to the auto parts store to try and find a "194 socket" that would fit the CDM headlights opening for a DRL bulb. Turns out, this is a proprietary (one-off) style of connector that cannot be directly fit by any socket out there besides honda's (which noone in the USA has access to) and is NOWHERE close to fitting an "off the shelf" 194 socket.
SOOO.... a took similar approach to JnC by finding a Lexus socket which uses a very similar design to that of the CDM headlights and has a long/extended shaft so push the bulb far enough into the housing so that the 5w bulb is effective.
Heres the story:
I visited the local Lexus dealership and had them search 1999-2004 GS300's/400s/430s as JnC had mentioned and they found that they had the socket which he used in stock. Sad thing is.... this socket comes attached to a harness and is not detachable or able to be purchased separately. COST: $80 for 2 sockets Definately NOT going that route
So onto a further search of their part system, we found a similar type socket from a RX300 which was of a similar design, but cost (only) $10 a piece. Much better! It must be modified slightly so that you can solder your wires to it, but no problem. The parts guys happened to have two spares sitting around , and let me have them for free. Nice guys at Lexus of Akron/Canton
Here are some pics. The captions on some of the pic should be helpful:
Socket (showing length needed)
Fits 168/194 bulbs
Headlight hole before modification
After modification using a dremel
Headlight with no socket
Headlight WITH socket poking through
From the outside - i'll end up trimming this down a little so that it doesn't melt with my 55w HID fogs.

Yeah, im going to paint it or trim it down flush.
Im going to solder wires directly to the pins and fill it with epoxy to make sure its watertight!

I purchased these in March, noticed one was missing the fog light gasket. I thought nothing of it;hoping I could take it off my factory lights. Nope. I called Acura and they told me thats ok just seal them up. I used layer after layer of duct tape, electric tape, and silicone. Finally got around to installing these in July. Last week they began to have condensation. One headlight cleared up and the other remains foggy. So far I have removed all the bulbs and cleared most of it with compressed air, but water remains.
I just contacted the ebay seller, who I met in person to save on shipping. In a perfect world he would exchange the troublesome headlight with a new one including gaskets. Any thoughts?

Interesting... my car was built in March '05. Is there an easy way to tell which type I have? Thanks.

Make sure you get the HID gasket covers from a 2003 TL instead of using tape and silicon like I did. You will also need to notch out the blinker sockets a bit larger to fit.
I got the turn signals from Honda Accord and the running light from Toyota Prius.Part numbers are 33302-SR3-A01 Honda Part Number,90075-60004 Toyota plug.
I created my own wire harness covered it in heat shrink tubing over the soldered wires, then siliconed any exposed areas. When installing the bulbs I covered them in silicon to keep out any leaks. I suggest going over the entire headlight with silicon.I've had these fill up with moisture too many times before I got sorb-it absorbers packets and put them in the headlight.
Minor condensation to prove it was happening. It has been covered entirely with moisture, depends on the temperature.
Some installed pictures.

So far I have replaced the passenger side headlight due to condensation and these headlights have been nothing but a PAIN. Luckily now I have them clean and how I like.Hopefully they will stay that way. Other than that they look pretty sweet. That's my

Anyone know the part number for the passenger side?
