Changes Acura Must Make in 06 TL
#121
I personally would not get the hybrid option, it opens the door for many more problems, plus every so often the batteries need to be replaced, and I imagine it aint cheap. SH-AWD will definatly become an option, just not for the 3rd gen TL, but I would expect it on the 4th gen, if they still call it the TL.

In 06 there might be a front grill change along with minor touch ups.

mp3 should be a resonable and popular change, i think they r going to put a usb connection too, as for the Hybrid I have no further info, Iam talking 2 yrs ago when I warking for a Acura dealership the regional officer told us that a Hybrid with 350-500(yes) HP AWD RL model was in the making, and then this new 300 HP SH-AWD came out, Hybrid is out in Accord and Civic, so Acura models are next just don't know when.
As far as buying a Hybrid, right now none of the commercial models are worth buying, you are just not saving enough gas money to justify the extra premium you pay upfront, just do the math.

With Lexus putting the wraps on a GS600h and LS600h (I think they will be called six hundreds and not the 460 like the "slower models") a hybrid RL may just be the performance ticket but 350 hp had better be a starting point.

the new IS will be a threat to TL??
here are some details on soon to be released IS
The IS 350 boasts a 3.5-liter V6 engine, that generates more than 300 hp and over 275 lb-ft of torque. A newly designed fuel injection system and dual Variable Valve Timing with intelligence (VVT-i) that act on both the intake and exhaust valves provide optimal engine performance and efficiency under a variety of driving conditions. More good news: the IS 350's engine is so powerful it can launch you from 0 to 60 mph in under six seconds.

Is300?
This sounds interesting: Lexus offers the powerful performance of an available Mark Levinson [6] sound system. This 300-watt system is powered by a 10-channel amplifier. The system's 14 speakers fill the IS cabin with superior quality sound, courtesy of four tweeters, two woofers, five 65mm mid-range speakers, two 100mm mid-range speakers and one eight-inch subwoofer. The speakers are all metal cone or dome, so their rigidity provides superior sound quality. Besides the crystal clear sound, this versatile system can play most formats, including two-channel stereo, two-channel Surround Sound, Dolby Digital 5.1 and DTS 5.1. It even plays MP3/Windows Media files. The surround sound system with 7.1-channel architecture is tailored specifically to the acoustics of the IS interior and the discerning audiophile.
Would like the 2006 TL to feature metal cone or dome std..

The electronic wheel i would say would definatly be a possibility, but I doubt it will be seen.
thanks.

The new 3 series
I just saw the new 3 series one of my buddies drove it to work, in terms of pure looks it kills TL hands down, it has the best front and side profile period, in terms on the rear end its soft looking may be the TL has some chance there, I sincerely beleive that 06 TL should change the front grill.
As for the market responce I talked to one of my sales managers in Fairfax and he told me that TL was selling better than the previous Beamer model, right now its even after the new 3 series came out (in Fairfax-which is a huge market).
So if TL does go for a better more aggressive front grill it might tilt in its favour.
again its my personal opinion that the TL front and side profiles are too flat, I like the rear end.
