Changed your ATF? Get in here!

I've searched and searched and read 100s of pages on this forum as well as others. I simply want a response from people who have done it or had it done. What fluid did you use and how often do you plan on doing another 3x3?

If you searched then you should be fine.

Redline Racing ATF = win.

I do it every 50k miles with the new Racing ATF.

Majority of members here have been using Redline ATF for their 3x3. As for schedule some will do their 3x3 the same day, others will a 1x3 and span it out over the course of 3 weeks due to time restaints. From there its personal preference when you feel the need to change it. I think ive read somewhere on here that some members would drain at each oil change.

Myself i have to span my 3x3 over a few weeks. After that maybe every 25k or so.

You probably read this link about using redline. if not check it out very informative.

I'm definitely wanting to do the Redline. Which is preferred...Racing ATF or Lightweight Racing ATF?

You will be fine with just Racing Type F. Lightweight or a mix of both is optional for cooler climates.

Right now I'm at 4,000 miles with the Type F. So about 25k more miles and I'll do another 3x3. I like to keep my intervals short.

I've got about 2,000 miles on the Redline Racing ATF. I'll probably do a 1X3 like every 3 or 4 oil changes just because it's so simple.

That's not a bad idea. Perhaps I'll do that.

I ordered my pressure switches last night so those should be here in about a week. There are about 15 or so Redline dealers within a 50 mile radius of my house...today I will try to find one that carries the ATF so I don't have to order it. I lack patience! I will be doing the 2 Racing:1 Lightweight ratio for the hot Utah summers and cold winters.

I did a 3x3 in one day using the new DW-1 fluid. About 1500 miles later no issues, shifting is smooth..........

I did 4 x 3 in one day with D4 ... not a lot of noticable change .. mind you I'm at 36K miles and there was nothing on the drain plug. Old fluid was discolored tho .. but no burnt smell.

I just used Mobil 1 ATF, I did my over a span of 3 weekends, actually ended up doing a 4X3 because I forgot to put the crush washer for the drain plug back on on the 3rd drain and fill.

Will be doing my 3x3 in a few hours. Originally purchased 6 qts of Redline Racing ATF and 3 qts of Redline Lightweight Racing ATF, however didn't want to be short on fluid if over 9 qts drained so I picked up another 3 qts of Racing ATF. So stoked to get this done and see the improvement over the stock fluid. I just turned over 36k miles yesterday and it had the fluids changed out at 30k by the dealer so I know the transmission is in good shape. Just excited to improve it even more.

Let us know how it turns out!! I just ordered my pressure switches and am looking for a good fluid to order. It seems that everyone turns to the Redline ATF. I'm at 110K miles...so I'm hoping it REALLY helps me out as my shifts are pretty rough every once in awhile

Update: Haven't done the 3x3 yet but just checked the mail and the pressure switches I ordered from delray acura online showed up today! I was expecting them the end of next week! Ordered Wednesday 4/13 late evening. Shipped 4/14. Delivered in Utah 4/16. Definitely impressed although the box was mangled. Nobody's fault but USPS.

Do we really need another fluid thread? A type F fluid will result in the lowest wear and longest lasting trans period. Some are afraid of it, everyone that has tried it loves it and it's brought many transmissions back from the dead. I don't know why anyone would use a factory fluid knowing the failure rate of the factory stuff vs the Type F fluid but I really don't care. I'm at the point of no longer giving advice, every possible question has been answered a hundred times already. It's up to people to search at this point so I'm not going to waste any more of my time answering questions. That's one reason I just leave my PM box full now.

Changed both the pressure switches and did a 3x3 today w/ 6 qts Redline Racing ATF and 3 qts Redline Lightweight Racing ATF. Each drain was approx 3.2 qts so the additional quantity was replaced with Racing ATF. Love how this car drives now. I've only had it for 2 weeks so I haven't learned all of its tendencies and feels but the shifting is AWESOME. The shifts are now very fast and they're barely detectable. My wife did the 3 drives with me and couldn't tell if it shifted without me telling her. The pause from P to R was cut down by a lot (wasn't long before, just the regular pause) and the P/R to D pause is now non-existent. I'm very happy with the results. Being that the switches were done just before the first round of drains I can't tell what difference that made but overall I am very happy with the results.
