Change transmission fluid + filter

Hi guys,

I did a search on the forum for a DIY for changing transmission fluid + filter - https://acurazine.com/forums/third-g...t-pics-787078/

Question I have is, the filter replacement parts is it compatible with 2008 TL as well?

Can I just get the items listed on this ebay listing and will work on my 2008 TL
ACURA OEM FACTORY TRANSMISSION FILTER KIT 2004-2006 TL BASE | eBay

Also for 2008 the part numbers are different from 06.
08 - https://www.acuraoemparts.com/auto-p...-atf-pipe-scat

06 - https://www.acuraoemparts.com/auto-p...f-pipe-06-scat

I believe the 07-08 filter is inside of the transmission housing - you can't (easily) replace it unfortunately.

If you're trying to improve your shift quality, replace your pressure switches in addition to your drain/refill. Luckily your transmission does not have the failure history of the earlier TLs like mine, so don't lose any sleep at night over not being able to replace the trans filter. https://acurazine.com/forums/third-g...2008-a-840630/

even looking at the links provided you can tell they're two different parts and designed differently.
Looks like its doable to replace but they're not interchangeable.

Yeah I believe the ATF filter in the 07/08 are internal so unless you plan on dropping the entire transmission housing down to replace it.

Short answer - No.

The 04 to 06 have different transmissions and, as TheSauceBoss mentioned, the 07 and 08's have an internal filter that it not easily serviceable. If I were you, I wouldn't worry about it.

My transmission service recommendations would be to stay on top of your transmission fluid changes and pressure switches. I do a 1x3 drain and refill with every oil change, so every 5k miles. You could get away with larger intervals, but for me, it is cheap insurance. There is a lot of discussion on what fluid is best, but I stick with the Honda DW-1. I would do the 3rd and 4th gear pressure switches as well. I believe there are 3 switches you will need to replace on your car. This one could be worth every cent, but will run ya around $100-$150. Again, cheap insurance. I'd replace the switches every 30-50k miles or as soon as you feel the shifts start to get sloppy again. Shifts should feel crisp. Once you feel the car begin to shift, you should be in the next gear almost instantaneously. If you feel the car hang for a half-second or more, absolutely do the switches ASAP. Any slopiness in the shifts means you are slipping your clutch packs together longer than they should be, causing heat build up, which is usually the cause of death with these transmissions.

I just recently purchased my first '07 Acura TL Type-S & was wondering, do the pressure switches really make that much of a difference? I have a slight jerk when it goes from i believe 2-3rd gear. So im thinking, can it be the mounts, tranny is on its way out or simply needs a drain & refill.
