Center speaker removal?
Hi folks. I have a buzzing in my center speaker when I take off in first gear. I removed it once to put some foam underneath as shown in another thread but that fix only lasted about 2 days. Now I want to add some more.
My problem is in trying to get the speaker out of the dash. The first time it was a real b!tch and I'm having a hard time getting it out again without bending the crap out of the dash when I stick the screwdriver or butter knife down the right side.
Anyone have a good way to remove this without leaving some damage?

I actually damaged mine yesterday (bent it) getting it out to fix the rattle. Those 6 spring clips are a bitch for sure. Good news is the dealer does sell just the grille and clips for about $13 by special order.
FYI, I also needed to put a piece of rolled up foam in the dash behind where the clock is in my car to stop all the rattling. I used 1/2", not 1/4" foam tape as in this thread. https://acurazine.com/forums/showthread.php?t=82055 He goes through how he removes the grill. Now that I have been through it I'm not sure there is a guaranteed way to get it out w/o damage. Feeler gauges and/or a butter knife and lots of patience and finesse
Also, I just noticed the pictures in the referenced thread show 4 clips. Mine has 6 and it still rattled. Oh well.

Yeah, that's the thread I followed the first time I tried the fix and it was a real bear getting it off. Last night I sweated it out for about a half hour before giving up.

Get the stiffest/largest paperclip you have that fits through the grill/holes. Bend the paperclip into an L shape on one end that you can get into the hole. Pull up gently/firmly. Never pry with a screwdriver etc..
