Casting plastic

When I was younger, I used to be into costuming, and even had my own Halo costume. More importantly however, was that I learned the techniques to make and cast plastic parts. The creator of the forum I was on actually made a master chief costume simply by getting his hands on a statue, and casted the armor from it.

My main question is, with all the people on this forum, has anyone ever tried or thought about casting the popular aesthetic oem parts, such as the window visors and/or the Type-S decklid?

I had thought about it before, the Type-S deck-lid spoiler might work out to be able to make some money since nobody makes one aftermarket.

I'd think you'd have to use a compound of plastic that takes well to paint though.

I'd be happy to test out a Type S deck-lid spoiler. I'm only about 20min away from Pleasanton :P

Wouldn't it be easier, more appropriate to use fiberglass/resin over some blue foam?
Purchased 2 completely destroyed front air dams for one of my cars. Mounted the remaining pieces of each to the front of the car, and depending on area broken, on the back used fiberglass in layers and in large missing areas, fiberglass in layers around some stiff wire mesh. On the front used Maxim semi-ridgid and after shaping/finishing both came out perfect. Not much money, just a lot of time and energy, but the spoilers new are @ $480 each so quite a bit of savings and they will be painted next month along with the car.

To make a part, get some fiberglass, blue foam and give it a try, actually pretty easy working with glass, just time consuming.
