Does anyone know what kind of carpet is in the rear wells? I love how it looks when it is clean and it is easy to clean too. I would like to layer the front with the same kind. Any ideas?

looks like some all weather carpeting. This was heavily discussed in a thread a year or 2 ago. I think it was the hidden feature thread.

so why is the carpet there...and if its a good reason, why isnt in the front wells too....

 

for practical reasons (ie, maintenance), the one on the rear is screwed on the front are held there with honda clips

 

Primarily a sound deadening trick.

As mentioned above, the front wheel wells would have been more difficult as well as not as practical... Rear was more relevant due to the wheel wells being right at the passenger compartment.

Definitely looks better than dirty plastic wheel-well liners.
