why would you want to buy the same car that was just recently stolen? ...Wouldnt you think they'll steal it again.

It seems our cars are now quite common, it was only a matter of time as it's an acura after all. Am I the first to have his 3G TL taken and stripped for parts?

where did they find it?

No you are not the first victim.....actually there was another TL owner from Harlem I believe who had his TL stolen from his sister's driveway in Long Island I believe it was. He had a lot of mods done to his car so it probably stood out more. His car ended up being totaled and he replaced it with a '03 or '04 Mercedes-Benz SL55 AMG. He definitely came out of that situation alright. This was last year I believe.

well the majority of TL's stolen have been for their NAVI systems. Considering how selective parts were stripped. I suspect they needed some of those parts to fix up their junk TL.
Surprised the seats are still in the car.

i was actually going to go to my friends house tonight in Bed Sty, but just changed my mind.

would be nice if the thief left his ID in the car.

Btw,..whomever put that ticket on your window is a completely brain dead assh0le.
I can almost attest to this ticket being written after the car stripped.

No wonder we hate those "meter maids"

Good video but you should change the name so people can find it better.

If the trunk switch doesn't work, I think you can open the trunk by opening the passthru in the back seat and reaching in and pulling the manual release.

Uhh I dont think so sparky. There is no way a Police Officer/Deputy Sheriff TOLD you to leave your car unlocked. If the responding Officer did tell you that, they are not doing their job.

Smash and grabs are usually committed by your oportunistic theives such as drifters, homeless, and the like. They walk thru a parking lot see a purse, gps, or whatever and within a few seconds its now theirs. Also Smash and Grabs are rare and usually take place over one night/day for a couple of hours and then no more for a long time.

Most of the car burglaries are done by local kids/young adults. And they are committed all the time usually during the night (2300 - 0300). And all they do is walk through yards checking doors. if your door is unlocked well....you just became a statistic.

Moral of this particular story is to never leave valuables where they can be seen AND keep your doors locked at all times. However, as previously stated "If someone wants something they are going to get it"

(and yes before you ask...my other car has a cage and pretty lights on it).

Holy crap. Makes me so angry looking at those pics. I don't understand how people think it's ok to do this to someone else's property.

You must feel so violated. I know I would. Good luck with insurance and everything to come.

O/T
Sorry officer but I disagree with you. In San Franciso Bay Area years ago they also recommended that people leave their car doors unlocked if possible. So many aftermarket stereos were being stolen via S&G. People even resorted to placing signs in the windows stating that they had no radio or valuables. This is not they type of crime anyone but the victim spends time trying to solve.

O.P. hope the insurance takes car of everything. Get a good alarm.

Wow! that video... it looks like a tornado ran through the car. Sorry man, that looks like a total - may cost too much to fix. Frankly, this is not one you want back anyway.

Wow dude, that is insane. I can hear the pain and anger in your voice from the vid which is rightfully so. I hope your insurance do right for you by putting this car back together like new again. And if you decide to keep it after that, then I hope you would install LoJack on it. I really hate thieves.

Well someone with a TL with your color interior is going to have the rest of the parts they need.

There's probably a salvage TL running around that didn't have a head liner and other components.. now they have everything they need thanks you, you're so generous!

I fucking hate people, I hate salvage cars, and I really really really hate the ________ that salvage them.

Sorry that you have to deal with this crap

no way, more than 6 to 7k worth of damage. The seats are ripped and need to be replaced. There is also a side airbag that is missing and the other ones are left damaged. Wires hanging everywhere, rims are all busted. Not to mention I had an a-spect kit on it was yanked off. It hurts but oh well.

Damn bro I'm sorry that this happened to you. It really sucks to experience this. It's happened to me a few times in the past with my other cars. I'm actually in the market to put in a 5901 viper or maybe even the new one that you link up with an iphone. I just wanna layer mine up with security before I do anything else to it. Lojack can only get you so far so I don't put all my trust in that especially seeing that this has been happening to a few members lately. One thing for is that there will be train horns hooked up with mine caus ethe minute they mess with it, all the neighbors will wake up and look out their windows for sure.

WTF! OP I'm sorry, I had my motorcycle stolen and recovered recently and let me tell you, it just doesn't feel right. How did they steal it? I didn't see any broken windows or forced entry? Was the ignition broken? I think its totalled for sure, parts, labor, not to mention the headliner is usually done by an outside company. I had mine repaired at the dealer and had to schedule a time when the headliner people would be there. Good luck and let us know what happens.

I will say this car requires 10k to repair

why? because you should have acura give you an estimate to fix it... they overcharge for everything... they'll total it out

I would no way in hell want a car with a theft recovery title

I believe you will actually have to have the car inspected by new york state also... not to sure though

nys and nonclean titles = a big problem

When a cement truck hit this tl, it caused 10k worth of damage, and it was just the outside with a new door needed to be replaced, along with the quarter panel (very bad luck with this car).
That 10k was with labor which was at like 5.5k. The damage was 4.5k. If this is 10k, I can only imagine labor would be twice that.

From observations as I have yet to pop the hood, they took a crapload of stuff from under the hood. To give you an idea on how much space I saw just from underneath, you can easily fit 2 twin turbos in there if thats how it came from factory and we all know theres hardly any space to begin with for 1. I

I hope they do the right thing and total it. I will fight it all the way. If they cut a check for repairing it... I will just junk the stupid thing and take the loss. I am hoping though it does not have to come to this as I would hire a lawyer. It's a bit stressful but its a car... it can be replaced. It's good they just took it while we were in the safety of our own home than to be held up with a gun when my wife and I are walking after parking late night. I always said this car kept me safe...
