Car hit while parked please help w/ question
So my car was hit while parked today. The person who hit it admitted it so that makes things easier. They wanted to pay their own body shop to do the work I've opted to go through insurance. I was just wondering if you think they will paint the hood if they replace the fender?

Let insurance deal with it.
These are questions you'll have to speak to insurance with and/or the body shop.
Here's a 25$ sidemarker if you want to buy it yourself..

I just had body work done to my car which had damages at a similar scale(mine was drivers door and not fender). You've heard some good advice, get 3 estimates and don't go with the cheapest. If you go through your insurance you will probably get someone who will put a lifetime warranty on their work- make sure this is the case. If the insurance is paying for it, the body shop should opt to do the most thorough as opposed to the cheapest. In my case they replaced the entire door, painted and blended onto surrounding panels. If I was paying out of pocket they would have re-skinned the door (cheaper in some cases-not always)
the adjuster or body shop will tell you the best action to take in order to do the job properly.
Make sure to take detailed pics of your car right before you hand the keys over. If some joker working on your car puts an extra ding or nick, you will know (personal experience) I think some people assume because these 3Gs are older now, we wont notice...ha
Good luck!

Just remember if they are going to repaint an entire panel, or hood, they will want to blend into all the adjacent areas. So if the damage is to the drivers fender they would blend onto the hood. If they have to repaint the entire hood they would want to blend onto the front bumper and passenger fender ect. ect. the worlk builds up fast.
The idea being they wont want to stop fresh paint at a seam in the car. So the odds are you wont be able to get the entire hood repainted- but cant hurt to ask!
