Car got keyed at work!

Can't believe this! First time this has ever happened to me. I thought my parking structure at work was pretty safe too

sigh..

any suggestions? i'm assuming it's gonna cost a couple hundred to fix. I have comprehensive coverage w/ a $500 deductible

anyway, just wanted to vent...sigh..

The picture makes it look a lot better than reality. It is a huge eyesore.. and goes from one side of the passenger door to the other side of the passenger door and some of the driver's door and door handle.

Ya know what ya gotta do? Just think, someone was mad or envious cause you (and all of us 3g owners) have such nice cars, so they took it out on ur car. It could be worse man!

Think it could be someone you know? Ex girlfriend, disgruntled co-worker? Take someones parking spot?

I just don't understand what drives a person to key a random persons car, is it some kind of rush or something?

Yeah i also have a higher deductible to keep premiums lower and this truly is a horror story. Had a limb fall on my car and peg my hood and right fender with some dime size dents..really bothers me just sucks because its going to be a 500+ fix.

No matter what somebody does to me, I would never key their car. I might put them in the hospital, but by all means, never the car.

Sorry to see the damage.

ouch!

It's going to be about 300 dollars to repaint a door (good ballpark average) so if both doors were damaged, then 600 dollars. If you can take a better picture straight from the side, you might be lucky! Sometimes the key marks aren't deep at all and you can wetsand the area and take them out!

I'm guessing it's the teenagers who just hang around skateboarding and smoking but I'm not gonna confront them or make any conclusions. I'm like 99% sure it's not anyone at work haha.

I also parked right at the exit in a stall where my car is in plain view of anyone exiting. It's a prime parking spot since there's no car on the left and there's plenty of space on the right because it's protected by a concrete column.

oh man thats awful.. i really hope you find the SOB!

one time at store saw a lady put her cart near her door to put groceries in back seat and of course the cart hit the car next to her. Wrote down her plates and left a note on the car saying her cart hit your panel. there was small scratch nothing major but if it was my TL i'd make her pay for it.

I always park away from general population.

OP sorry again bro.

I can almost feel your anger right now, I try to be cool and on good terms with everyone at work for this reason. I've noticed how a lot of these incidents occur at the workplace.

I'm not sure if I should just leave the damage as is or get it fixed up when the same thing can happen again further down the road...

Fix it. You're gonna see it every time you walk by your car. May hurt the bank but you'll save yourself the stomach ache every time you see it.

wow, tha sucks bro.

i remember when I thought my car got keyed, I was so pissed, i did a full investigation of who could have done it, but then at the end of the day, I was empting my pockets and released that my pocket knife clip was sticking out. I was so pissed off at my self from such a fail.

good luck.

At my old job, I had someone hit my car in the parking lot and take off. I go outside, I see my fender, bumper and headlight smashed in. Never caught the guy. At my new job, I am a network admin, and our security cameras are recording motion to a server in my closet. I make sure to park my TL end the end of the line (so no one can park next to me on one side) and camera on the other side. No problems yet, but if should one arise, I will def find their ass this time.

Yeah, like two weeks ago. Took me almost an hour to fixed it with 3M rubbing compound.

It could also be a careless asshole and her purse/bag or someone's pants scraped it as they were walking by or getting our of there car. I have seen assholes that just throw open there doors into other peoples cars and DONT EVEN NOTICE. Sometimes I want to get out and pretend thats my moms car and get there info and leave it on the car because I feel bad. Some people out there just are very careless and obviously its not there's so who cares right?

Fix it. Think it's an eyesore now? Wait until it rusts.

And for the record...IT'S A CAR. AN INANIMATE OBJECT. IT IS NOT WORTH YOUR PERSONAL WELFARE TO STICK UP FOR A CAR...EVER.

Although revenge would be so satisfying, it would suck if they retaliated with something even more extreme :/

Damn bro, I feel for you. I just got my TL and am paranoid as hell no matter where I go. Some girl was wearing those jeans with the pocket flaps and large buttons standing against my car; I totally lost track of the conversation and couldn't focus on anything but her a$$ swiping my car. I went into a shell shocked, tunnel vision-like state until she lifted off. I think I'm developing a psychological complex about it...lol
