Car Cover
Recently alot of city improvements around my work have been going on and the dust from all that has been getting me kinda upset. Projected finish date for city improvements is about 2 years. The dust coats the outside of the car and some how it even gets into the car, nothing to bad inside but outside is horrible. So i am looking into a car cover but i want some feedback on which one to buy. Should i just buy the cheap walmart $35 or really invest some money into a good one. I am open to all price ranges just want to know if any of you guys have had a good experience or bad experience so i know which one not to buy.

I got the wallys with 3 vents in it to allow moisture out-25-35$- amazingly good protection from rain and dry blowing dirt
The trick to not scratching paint is never put the cover on a dirty-dusty car
Synthetic car wax is cool but tends to be a dirt magnet- and makes you look foolish putting the cover on as it slides right off ther top of the cars super slippery surface...neighbors got a good laugh that day--

the cheapo one I can wash easily inside and out, just put it on the car and rinse away! - the $100 type with lined interior grabs up dust and holds it, making it sandpaper~

Anyone know if the acura one is worth looking into. I mean there are some that range up to like $400 but if i can get most of the dust to stay off while at work than that would be great. I just want some kind of protection and not 100% so maybe i will need to look into a decent one and see how that works. Thanks for your guys input so far.

OEM is nice, since it's designed for your car. IMO, kind of pricey. It's also a huge hassle to put on/off a cover everyday.
Give it a good coating of WAX, that way the dust will just sit happily on top of it, use a microfiber towel and brush it all off.

car cover + dust will = minute swrils and scratches. it jsut might be better to have no cover at all. that way there will be no friction between the dust on your car and the car cover itself. put it this way if the dust is somehow getting into your car the dust WILL find its way under the car cover. it doesnt matter now cheap or expensive the car cover is i wouldnt recommend it.
serveral layers of sealant and wax will be enough to protect it.
also proper detailing will prevent swrils and scratches. join the pakshak forums. im sure we can help you out more there =)

Keep Right Except to Pass
I have a cover for my RX-7. Ordered it from Griot's Garage on the recommendation of my brother, who had gotten one from them for his 1974 Beetle. It's a good cover and the reflective piping is a nice feature at night since the RX-7 gets parked on the side of the street. Downsides of the cover are, as others have noted, the risk of scratches and swirls; the problem of the wind potentially pulling the cover off (more on that in a second); and the nuisance of taking it on and off.
Regarding the wind, I have a cable lock that secures the cover, but on really windy days the cover can still get pulled off the car. The cable lock keeps it from blowing away, but it will still get twisted around and the lock can bang into the side of the car. Depending on where you park, that might pose a problem for you. (Getting the cable across underneath the car was a nuisance at first until I took a wire shirt hangar and untwisted the top so that it became a long hook. I pass the cable through one side of the cover, snap the lock into place on the other side, throw it under the car as far as I can, and then use the hangar-hook to grab the lock and pull it the rest of the way.)
You mentioned you want the cover for use at your office. Bear in mind that you don't want to put the cover on the car when the engine and tailpipes are still hot. That also means that in your case dust is likely to have gotten on the car between the time you park and the time when it's cooled down. You'll have to clean it every time to avoid scratches, and you'll likely still get some scratches anyway due to dust that got on the car cover. (For me the nuisance of taking it on and off the car means I drive the RX-7 less when the cover is in place simply because it takes more time to deal with.)
If you decide you want a cover, then the Griot's covers are very good-quality stuff. Just be aware that proper use of a car cover involves a lot more effort than you might think it will. Be prepared to wash the cover on a regular basis, perhaps even daily if the construction is really bad. (Bear in mind that when you take the cover off the car, you're almost certain to get dirt and dust from the outside of the cover onto the inside.)

thank guys for all the great ideas. I am still uncertain to buying a car cover or just washing it every other day. I wax the car atleast once a month so the paint should be covered. Just tired of all the filth on the car and in the cab. Maybe once they get the major work done than it will be less as bad.

I have one of the OEM Acura covers. It fits the car well and I have had no scratch issues. It will let fine dust particles through especially if the cover is on for a while. Sometimes if my cover is on for a long time, i have to wash the car when I take it off because a fine white dust is all over the car. The cover probably just needs washed but that means I have to take it to a laundro-mat because it is too big for a normal washer. About putting the cover on when the car is hot, the OEM one has a different material around the tailpipes so that it wont get burnt. Also, you can get very good at putting the cover on everyday if you fold the cover on top of the car from the sides and then roll it front to back. Just my two cents.
