Car buying advice... TL

Hello All,

I'm a current lessee of an 07 TSX. My lease is up at the end of the month and i'm faced with either financing my current TSX or upgrading to a used TL. I had two models in mind that are in my price range. 1) 2004 base TL , auto, with 40k miles. Minor soilage on carpet, and nick nacks on the paint. 2) 2007 base TL, auto with 77k miles. Clean inside and outside, 1 owner.

The 04 is about $17,900 and the 07 is $17,300. For comparison's sake my 07 TSX (40k miles) is $16,680.

Should i try to haggle and get the prices down on either model. Also, is 77k on the 07 a worry?

Thanks for any advice.

$17.9K for a 6 year old car is a little high even though the mileage is low. The '04 was the first year for the 3G and there were lots of issues that needed to be handled. Do they have maintenance records?

depends on how much you drive and how long you plan on keeping the car, usually lower mileage is better, 40k on the 04 is pretty low and 77k on the 07 is pretty high, but i personally would choose the 07, the extra mileage isn't horrible and it's a lower price, probably in better condition, and overall more for your money

and yes, always try to haggle the price down

I would go with the 07 also, 77k is a little on the high side but nothing to worry about.

I'd look for other deals. Either that or just keep your TSX. Neither of the TLs listed is compelling to me.

+1 - keep your TSX, while listing it in Autotrader, Craigslist,(be looking for TL's) try to make a profit on it. Once you sell it, hopefully having some equity, you can put that $ down on a more attractive TL GL just what I would do..depending on what you owe, and what you think you could sell her for

i would look for more tls ... but if those were the only two i had to choose from ... i would probably go for the one with lower miles, which would be the 04

I purchased an 04 6MT with 33k last year, could not have been any more pleased. Just be sure to check maintenance records and look to see that recall work had been performed.

The good thing about your TSX is you know the complete history of the car, which you never know with a used car. The TL is a logical upgrade though if your bored of your TSX. Like everyone else said look around, theres some amazing deals out there in this economy. Make sure you get one with Navi too. For those prices they should have it.
